In algebra there are steps to each problem and each problem is about figuring out what
the x value is. Now most equations are solving for x until you get to slope intercept form then
you have to solve for a different variable. In this equation you will be solving for y because the
equation is y=Mx+b. But this wasnt the case in the packet that was filled with harder problems
and at the top it said Advanced Algebra.
I was on a quiz and I didnt know what the question was asking so I asked Mrs. Travis
how to do a problem like this. I thought even though she cant do the one like the quiz she did an
example problem and I had to follow the steps that she did and use them on my quiz. Then I went
back to my desk and finished my quiz feeling confident in myself knowing that if I wouldnt of
asked for help the problem wrong and would of gave me a bad grade on the quiz.
I have also had others request help from me in algebra because I understand the topic
really well. So others would ask me if I could help them and usually they are totally lost on what
the assignment is. Or they just forgot a step or two. Then once I explain what they were doing
wrong they got it and understood the problem.
I am not afraid of asking for help on a problem like some people are I will ask questions
when I dont get the problem or I feel confused. Sometimes I think I get the problem and I get
the question right so I have plenty of confidence in helping others understand the topic better.
When I was younger I really was intimidated by asking questions during quizzes and tests
because I really was nervous.
But now Ive learned that its ok to ask questions especially when you dont know a
topic. Also this might teach me to ask questions while Im focusing on my career to ask players
questions on the injuries and maybe I can help them in a different way then what I was trained to
do.
