Repeatedly revolutionising
cookery.
In the 16th century, wars raged across Europe

resulting in increased weapons production in
Sweden. Hydropower was required to carry out
certain mechanical operations and in 1689, a
drilling works was established beside the
waterfalls in Huskvarna. This signalled the start
of a long and successful period of manufacturing
both military weapons and private firearms. Key
factors in our success was our attention to detail
and consistently high levels of quality control,
which included test firing.
When we began manufacturing sewing machines

in 1872, we put our experience regarding the
precision engineering of weapons to good use.
This expertise in producing technically
challenging products, such as weapons, proved to
be a major advantage. The high quality of the
small components and the overall reliable
construction led to a long period of successful
sales worldwide.
At the end of the 19th century, when cooking

was done in pots over an open fire, our engineers
saw the potential for making cooking both easier
and safer. In the existing foundry used mainly
in the manufacturing of sewing machines we
began developing and casting stoves. In 1877, we
produced our first, patented cast iron wood
burning stove, a success that lasted for decades.
In the 1960s, we revolutionised cooking again
by launching a cupola shaped microwave oven
a perfect combination of engineering and design.

standards for efficient mowing.
1885 witnessed the birth of the modern bicycle.

We recognised the full potential of the bicycle
and began producing them ourselves. In 1903,
we introduced the motor velocipede (a bicycle
equipped with a one cylinder engine) and shortly
after, the motorcycle. Since then our motorcycles
have, thanks to their reliable engines and
construction, gone on to achieve great success
worldwide, including the top places in the 126
250 cc class in the Paris-Dakar.
When we launched our first chainsaw in 1959,

its increased usability and reduced noise helped
us set a new standard in chainsaw development.
The powerful, lightweight engines were directly
inspired by our motorcycles; and so began an
on-going journey of innovations, including
LowVib anti-vibration, X-Torq engines, the
TrioBrake safety system and AutoTune. These
innovations, along with many others, have
ensured consistently effective and reliable
chainsaw work when its needed most.
Since we began manufacturing lawn mowers,

we have pushed technological boundaries.
From small, but effective improvements on
manually operated lawnmowers to todays rideon mowers with articulated steering and
outstanding manoeuvrability. In 1995 we took
a giant leap forward by introducing the solar
powered robotic lawn mower SolarMower, a
predecessor to the Automower - 19 years later,
we have an entire range of robotic mowers.

Husqvarna chainsaws undergo intensive testing, both in laboratories and out

in the field. We test run the machines for several hundred hours in water
brake test rigs where chainsaws are loaded at different speeds to simulate
felling. This is performed in order to detect any temperature problems. In
order to detect any vibration problems we also run the chainsaws at full
throttle in laboratory test units for a long period of time. In addition, we
expose the chainsaws to demanding impact tests as well as both extreme cold
and sweltering heat, in order to ensure they make the grade when its time for
you to use them.

A new machinery directive (2006/42/EC) came into force on January 1, 2010, requiring manufacturers to declare the nominal power of engines, in kilowatts (kW).

EASY-ACCESS CONTROLS
A clean cutting deck always gives the best

cutting results. On selected models, the cutting
deck is easily tilted up into service position,
which makes it easy to clean and service.
With a Rider you get safety, stability and

traction on both flat grounds and hillsides.
The Riders low centre of gravity contributes to
superior traction as well as a comfortable sitin feeling for the user.
All controls are ergonomically located and

easy to reach from the drivers seat. The
cutting blades are engaged automatically when
the cutting deck is lowered.

TWO-STROKE OIL COMPARISON.
A laboratory test made with a Husqvarna 346XP chainsaw

under very heavy load, clearly shows the difference
between reference oil and our 2-stroke oils. Cylinder and
piston comparison ran under the same circumstances but
with different engine oil. The cylinder ran on the same
engine block. The result was that our oils give better
protection against lean and carbon related piston seizures.
HP TWO-STROKE OIL
Designed to meet all the tough challenges a twostroke engine oil can encounter. It lowers high
temperature caused by low-quality fuel and
reduces the coating and wear and tear on the
bearings and cylinder walls. The oil is a mix of
mineral and synthetic oils, and the additives are
of the highest quality. HP is designed for use with
all Husqvarna two-stroke products. Complies
with JASO FB / ISO EGB.
