How to Lose Postpartum Weight Healthily and Effectively

In order to regain a slim body, postpartum women should eat healthily, exercise regularly and have
enough high quality sleep.
A. Postpartum women should have healthy eating habits
1. Women should avoid strict diet plans which delay body recovery time and cause fatigue.
2. They are recommended to eat variety of foods from the five food groups which are
fruits and vegetables, grains, proteins, dairy and oils.
3. They should also consume at least 1800 calories per day, especially if breastfeeding.
B. Postpartum women can lose weight by doing regular exercises.
1. Begin with simple exercises and gradually increase the intensity and time.
2. Women are advised to do exercises that tone and strenghten the pelvic floor and lower
abdominal muscles.
3. Women should avoid any high impact exercises or sports during the recovery period of
six to eight weeks.
C. Postpartum women should also have enough high quallity sleep.
1. Having enough of high quality sleep, postpartum women won't make poor food choices
or skip daily exercises due to exhaustion caused by sleep deprivation.
2. Insufficient sleep affects the hormones, ghrelin and leptin which are associated to
hunger.
3. Consult a sleep specialist to detect any underlying sleep problems.
In conclusion, women can obtain their pre-pregnancy figure by losing weight through sensible
eating, regular exercise and sufficient high quality sleep.
