Predicting Outcomes

- is the ability to predict what will happen next based on two things
1. Clues given in the picture or story
2. What you already know
One way to predict outcomes is to look at a picture.
You can see what is happening, and then predict what is most likely to happen next.
You will look for clues in the picture that will help you predict what outcome will
be.

Drawing Conclusions
- refers to information that is implied or inferred. This means the information is never
clearly stated.
- writers often tell you more than they say directly. They give you hints or clues that help
you read between the lines. Using these clues to give you a deeper understanding of your
reading is called inferring.
Inference is just a big word that means conclusion or judgment.

Organizing Information into an Outline

- an outline is a diagram that shows topical organization. It is the process of breaking a
selection into different topics.

Ex. What will most likely happen next?

- If you predict that this will soon be a house, youre right.

What will most likely happen next with this picture?

- The pitcher will throw the

baseball hard and try to strike
out the batter.
