Materials are my prime concern as I remain persistent in my search for new media with a connection

or an ability to portray ruins, fractured architecture or structure. Whilst observing broken structures or
found objects I acknowledge how these materials behave by allowing the object, structure or
architecture dictate how the work evolves through appropriation, mending or repair. As fractured
structures often reveal colour beneath the layers in the guise of decay or times past, my sculptures
portray colour appropriate to the exhibiting site. Whether my work is installation, sculpture or drawing
my aim is to allow the exhibiting site to form a dialogue between the existing architecture and my
work. I work with wood, plaster, filler, paint, fabric paper and found objects. Artists who have inspired
my work include Phyllida Barlow, Anthony Caro, Alan Kaprow and Gerry Judah for different reasons,
although include revisiting past materials, process and assemblage, truth to materials and the
connection of making with performance. As I create instinctively, I crisscross the boundaries of
process, assemblage and performance art, by including the rule of gesture and action of making.
