Thank you ever so much for your email and for popping into Central Lobby the other day! I
understand my assistant popped down, as J was in a meeting, but that she sadly missed you.
I very much appreciate you taking the time to follow this up with an email regarding Lyme
disease and the patient-led forum organised by Mr Simon Hughes. Having had a read through the
document you kindly attached, it sounds like the meeting raised some important points and
proved quite productive.
By way of background, it is encouraging that Public Health England and National Parks have
taken steps to inform the public of the risks of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne conditions.
There was an awareness campaign in 2014, and the Government committed to researching the
disease at the Health Protection Research Unit in Liverpool.
Today I have written to the Secretary of State for Health to bring his attention to the plight of
Lyme-disease patients in this country on your behalf, and Iwill of course be back in touch as
soon as I have received a response.
Thank'you
silent.

again for taking the time to contact me in an age when it is all too easy to remain

Yours sincerely,

Adam Afriyie MP
