AlthoughItalyisalliedwithIsrael,theydonotapproveofthetreatmenttowardsthe

Palestinians,andoftensidewithPalestinewhenitcomestotheconflictbetweenthetwostates,

andItalywouldliketoseeapeacefultwostatesolution.

TheIsraeliPalestinianconflict,datingallthewaybackto1948,hasbeenalongand

bloodywar,thatallstartedwithJewishimmigrantscomingintoIsraelseekingrefugeafterthe

Holocaust.SoonaftertheyarrivedinIsrael,theArabsandMuslims,theconflictbrokeout

inbetweennowknownastheIsraelis(theJews)andthePalestiniansoverreligionandplain

dislikementofeachother.ThePalestinianswereworriedthattheywouldbeoverrunbythe

Jews,andtheJewsfeltthattheyhad

arighttolivetheresinceIsraelwastheirpromisedland.Now,in2015,theIsraeliscontrol

mostofIsrael,andthePalestiniansareinaverydiresituation,beingforcedtoliveinrefugee

campsaroundtheMiddleEast.AccordingtothewebsiteUrwa,
Nearlyonethirdofthe

registeredPalestinerefugees,morethan1.5millionindividuals,livein58recognizedPalestine

refugeecampsinJordan,Lebanon,theSyrianArabRepublic,theGazaStripandtheWestBank,

includingEastJerusalem.Socioeconomicconditionsinthecampsaregenerallypoor,
with


highpopulationdensity,crampedlivingconditionsandinadequatebasicinfrastructuresuchas

ThisshowsjusthowhorriblythePalestiniansaretreatedforsimply
tryingto

getbacktotheirhomeland.However,eachsidehasfaultsoftheirown,asexplainedinthis

byDr.DeborahFink:Withinthecontextsofbothsides'currentviews,neitherseeshumanityin

theother.Neitherseestheotherasapartnerforpeace.Eachbelievestheotheronlyunderstands

forceandviolence.Anythinglesswouldbeperceivedasaweaknesstoexploit.Eachholdsthe

viewthattheultimateaimoftheotheristodestroytheirenemy.Palestinians,andtherestofthe

Arabworld,would,iftheycould,pushIsraelintothesea.Likewise,Israelwould,ifitcould,run

Asmentionedbefore,ItalyisalliedwithIsrael,howeverithighlydisapprovesof

Israel'sactionsagainstPalestine.ItalyrecentlyhasputforthamotiontotheUNthatwould

recognizePalestineasanindependentnation,assaidbythisarticlebyynetnews:

antiestablishment5StarMovement(M5S),whileItaly'sfarrightNorthernLeagueand

thatoncewas.ThefirststepindoingthisisbydeclaringPalestineanindependentstate.By

doingthistheargumentforpeaceinbetweenthesetwostateswouldbebetterthenever,and

hopefullywillleadtothetwostatepeacesolution.Othercountriesapprovalforthisisalso

ThemovebytheItalianparliamentover

therecognitionofPalestineasastatecomesmonthsafterFrance'sNationalAssembly

overwhelminglyvotedasimilarmeasure.

Overthepastmonths,similarresolutionswereapprovedbyanumberofEuropeancountries.

OnNovember18,Spanishlawmakersoverwhelminglyapprovedanonbindingresolutionon

recognizingaPalestinianstate.BritainandIrelandalsopassedsimilarnonbindingmotions.

OnOctober30,SwedenwentastepfurtherandofficiallyrecognizedthestateofPalestine,

drawingstringentcriticismfromIsraelandtheUnitedStates.
Withallofthisapproval,Italy

hopesthatthismotionwillpass,andstartthelongpathtopeaceforbothstates.
