Dismissal Plan Changes

You may have noticed a few changes in our dismissal plan. We are consistently evaluating
our procedures for arrival and dismissal to ensure we have safe systems in place.
We now have every bus rider escorted out of the building and placed on the bus by their
teacher. At the same time, every car rider and CEP student is escorted to the gym and
cafeteria by Wheeler staff members. It is extremely important that we have
documentation of how each student gets home. Please note that students begin moving
toward their dismissal area promptly at 3:40. To ensure all students are dismissed
correctly, we need all changes to dismissal prior to 3:15. Also, please know that we must
have a phone call or a note from the childs parent or guardian to make a change in
dismissal. We do not make changes based on information given by a student.
With every bus rider exiting the front of the building at the same time, we are stopping
traffic as the students are walking through the bus circle to their buses. The purpose is
the safety of your children. This process takes 10-12 minutes daily and cars are not
permitted to be in motion around the bus circle during this time. Students begin exiting
the building at 3:40 and the buses are pulling off the property at approximately 3:52. As
soon as the buses exit the front circle, the flow of traffic resumes.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
