Roll the dice Twister
Source: http://www.autism-society.org/what-is/aspergers-syndrome/
1.) For this activity you will 3 cubes and six different colored disks. One cube with
the number one through six, the second cube with 6 different action figures
such as jumping, hugging, touching your toes, spinning around, waving, and
clapping. These action figures can always change depending on what the
therapist wants and the group of disabled people they are working with.
There can be around six different participants for this game.
2.) First step is throw the disks in different areas of the room.
3.) Have first participant pick up the cube with the action figures and toss it. It
might land on clapping. Then he/she will have to toss the numbered cube.
The cube might land on 4. When it lands on 4 he/she will pick up the next
cube which will be the ones with different colors. He/she will toss it. If it land
on purple, then he/she will have to go on the purple disk and clap his/her
hands 4 times.
Leadership consideration
A.) This game is good when therapist are working with participants that have
Aspergers Syndrome and/or Autism. It helps them recognize colors, numbers
and challenges their physical abilities. It can also help with understanding
different actions and help with social skills. Although Asperger syndrome
participant are different from Autistic participant because Asperger syndrome
participants have good language skills, they do not have delay in speech, and
they take things literally. Autistic children delay in speech and cognitive skills,
they are not social indifference of the Asperger participant.
B.) When you put the two together they are the complete opposite and they can
learn to work with each other. The Asperger participant is loud and the
Autistic participant is to themselves and tend to be quite. The Aperge
participant will ask questions till they run out of breath which can in my
opinion help the Autistic participant step out of their shell.
