testing software for Oroville Adult curriculum

On CBAM: Susan is definitely at an advanced level on the CBAM scale falling somewhere
between Collaboration and Refocusing. She has always taken a leadership role at school in
technology and other areas. She consistently looks to find ways innovative technologies and
tools can be used to increase learning for her students. When I met with her to get more
details about her experiences she said during her explanation about setting up the Empower
testing software, Id rather spend the time upfront to learn about a machine that can help
a student learn and set up the technology so others can benefit from being prepared. In this
case, the Empower software allows students to take subject matter unit tests and scores
them automatically. This allows Susan and other teachers that use the software to work with
other students and also track student progress digitally without having to grade each
individual test. Its a real time saver.
The future: Currently enrolled in OTAN Technology training series to implement distance
learning specific to her classroom program in an effort to work with students outside of the
Oroville area who want a diploma from our school. She is relearning how to use Moodle and
creating online classes for students to earn credits specific to her classes towards a high
school diploma from our school. We often have students that drive over an hour to get here
and this online option will benefit them, especially since they have already built a
relationship with her as their only teacher.
