Upcoming Events!

Welcome to the New Year! I am pleased to announce that the

Memphis Area Alumnae Panhellenic Group (MAAPA) is back in
business.
I have the great privilege of working with some
extraordinary Greek women in Memphis area. With their help and
our passion of spreading Greek values of empowerment, education,
philanthropy, and leadership, we are building MAAPA into a thriving
organization. We have many representatives from local alumnae
chapters commit to the cause and have been working towards our
goal of spreading the value of becoming a Greek woman. With the
help of the current board and our committee chair, some of the
things we have been working on this year to recruit and educate high
school ladies are: a spring recruitment event, educational videos,
and live events. We are excited to see these events come to fruition
and welcome young women into the Greek world.
As alumnae, we all know how important Greek life was in shaping
who we are today. Joining my sorority was one of the best things
I've ever done. As I look back to my college years, I have made some
wonderful memories, formed strong friendships, created a solid
commitment to success, and learned the value of teamwork thanks
to my sorority. And even after college, being able to bond within the
Greek sisterhood of Panhellenic, I truly see the importance of going
Greek.
Kelli, Mary, Rebecca and I and the member sororities welcome all
sororities to join and share in our commitment to the young women
of tomorrow. We would love to have you join with us and can't wait
to meet you! Also, if you know of any high school ladies that are
interested in going Greek and would like more information, please
contact us.
Warmest Wishes,

Lisa Chou

Whats Happening?

Letter from the Vice President

Happy New Year!
I am thrilled to be serving you as the VP of MAAPA! As we work to
revitalize our unified Greek alumnae presence in Memphis, I have
been overseeing the forming of the social committee and the
recruitment committee. I am so happy to see these committees come
together and build the relationships that they have formed. Through
our collective goal of reaching out to high school girls to choose Greek
life in college and beyond, we have some exciting things planned,
including our large recruitment event, Sorority 101, in April. We hope
to see you at one of our future events and appreciate your continued
support!

MAAPA and Memphis

Literacy is Key!

As Greek members we understand that Greek Life is not four

years, but for life. Just because we have graduated college
does not mean that the friendships created and opportunities
available end. This is true for you in your individual
organization and should be true with your Panhellenic sisters
as well. The Memphis Area Alumnae Panhellenic Association is
here to bring all local alumnae together; whether your
respective organization has an official club or not. We are here
to help cultivate new friendships and continue to open doors
for our Greek family. As a member of MAAPA you are exposed
to a larger Greek community within the Mid-South. MAAPA is
here to help connect all Greek members together, and to help
upcoming sorority members understand the benefits of
sisterhood. We are proof that Greek Life is FOR LIFE!

Letter from the Treasurer

I have been working with Lisa and other board members to establish
fiscally sound and accountable financial policies. Our guiding
principal is transparency and this is why we have included a financial
statement in this newsletter. In addition, we are requiring both the
President and Treasurer signatures on all checks and we have
decided not to have a debit card associated with the bank account.
We will continue to work towards increasing revenue through
soliciting additional dues paying members.

In January the Memphis Area Alumnae

of Kappa Kappa Gamma hosted their
5th annual Literacy is Key: A Book and
Author Affair luncheon. This yearly
event brings together national and
regional authors to raise funds for the
support of literacy education in our
Memphis community.

I am excited that Memphis has re-invigorated the Memphis Area

Alumnae Panhellenic Association. The board and representatives
have already provided valuable input into our goals for the current
semester. In addition, we have made some wonderful contacts with
other Alumnae Panhellenic Associations so that we will not need to
reinvent the wheel. With good participation from the sororities, we
should have a great year!

Thank you for your continued interest in MAAPA; it makes all of our
