GIS Internship Program 2015

The City of Evanstons IT Division is responsible for the management and coordination of the
Geographic information System (GIS) by providing technical expertise in the development,
implementation, and maintenance of the system. Weve recently completed a major upgrade to
our ESRI environment and are now focused on leveraging the upgraded platform throughout the
City of Evanston.
The Internship program provides opportunities for College students to gain hands-on experience
in a production GIS environment. The intern will assist the Citys GIS Analyst with upcoming
projects related to data creation and maintenance, GIS tree inventory project, and the
redeployment of web mapping applications formatted for tablet use.
Specific goals for the program include:

Assist with transition from legacy ArcIMS & MapObjects web maps to an ArcGIS Server
& ArcGIS API for Javascript platform.
Data creation and maintenance.
Map compilation.
