Summery of Issues :
A. Door Side Impact Beam

1. In month of Nov, VW has requested POSCO, to change the

supplier from AM to POSCO for door side impact beam, VW wants
to develop this in GI 980 DP with VW spec HX660HD
2. The total requirement for this material is 2500mt/Yr
3. In dec 13 POSCO has shared the guaranteed spec(mechanical &
chemical properties) to VW

4. In this meeting POSCO proposed two grades LOW YS STEEL with

minimum YS is 580~750 Mpa & HIGH YS STEEL with minimum
YS 700~900
5. VW was not sure about which material they should go for LOW
YS or HIGH YS
6. So, they requested sample for both LOW & HIGH YS product 5
nos Each in 1.35mm & 1.0mm thickness
7. Currently they VW consuming 1.35mmt & 1.0mmt for HX660XD
8. The SQS sheet is mandatory with this sample
9. Once POSCO submit these sample VW sent in there lab and then
stamping will be done

These stamping will be takes place at their vendor COSMA
& SKH plant

POSCO also requested sample of Arcelor mittal to analyze
their exact requirement , as the sheet which POSCO has
submitted to VW showing TS of 956 Mpa which is lower than
acceptable TS of 980Mpa
B. Seat Rail

1. Currently VW is using HRPO 1.8mmt the grade is S500MC

equivalent to SAPH440 for upper rail, this material they are
sourcing from domestic mill
2. For Lower rail VW required CR DP 980 with 1.2mmt , currently
buys from Arcelor mittal
3. The total qty requirement is 150mt/Month
4. VW wants these CR to be sourced from POSCO
5. POSCO requested for CR 980DP sample
6. The vendor for seat rail is SKH
Next action:
1. POSCO needs to collect the sample of Arcelor mittal grade
HX660XD and send it to P-HQ for further analysis
2. P-SA needs to request 5 sample each for 1.35mmt of LOW YS &
HIGH YS steel
3. Also for seat rail POSCO need to collect the samples
4. Once we shared the analysis, then POSCO & VW will discuss
further
