Reflection
This day we were working in teams to develop a project. My project is about the
camels in Midway. First, we decide which activities to develop the beginning,
during and at the end. After that, we started creating our resources as masks,
pictures, souvenirs, a song, puzzle, unscrambled words on a construction paper.

Teamwork is an excellent way to share ideas and work collaboratively to get a final
product. I enjoyed sharing ideas with my colleges this day.

Reflection:
This day we discussed the animal rubric for the group assignment. It was very
important to know the items and how to be evaluated.
During this day we continue working in teams with the project. I liked to work in
teams because we share different opinions and get one important idea to put on
the project. We also practiced on how to present this project.

Reflection:
What do I like from the team work about the camels project?
I like that that I give my opinions and suggestions in relation to the activities to
present the project. Also, I listened carefully to each other opinions and
suggestions. We all together work as a team.
What is my role?
I think my role is not only mine I can say is our role as we are working as one team.
Our role is to give our best when applying previous and acquired knowledge and
also get new important information to share with our students and colleges when
we come back to Panama.
Which project does I like the best?
I like all the projects as individual as in teams.

What works in the team work?

The brainstorming of ideas let us to get an idea about what we are going to present
after that we can organize the activities.

Reflection:
I enjoyed this class because I learned about Reading. There are share, guided and
independent reading. If I want to apply a reading work to my students these steps
must be take into consideration:
1- Introduce the book
2- Read the book
3- Respond to the book (without speaking)
Examples: Students reaction
Writing
Drawing pictures
4- Reread the book
5- Continue the process
Read every 5 minutes a day
6- Read independently
After the class about reading, we continued with the Dr. De Moore class
about Nature Journaling. I drew the place where I live but only nature. Then,
I explained it and told what the nature teaches me. It was not an easy task
but I did. I can believe it is a subject.
Then, I went to a Grammar Workshop. The topic was Sentences Structure.
Run-ons sentences are the ones that allow other independent clauses to be
tacked on become RUN-ONS; run-ons that utilize a lone comma (without
conjunction or instead of a period or semi-colon) are known as Comma
Splices. I enjoyed this workshop and I practiced to distinguished run-on
sentences and fragments.
It is very important to mention that fragments are parts of a sentence
masquerading as complete sentences; these are usually dependent clauses
that require further information to complete their thoughts and stand alone.
Usually, they require joining with the previous sentence, often with a comma
preceding the fragment. Sentences beginning with conjunctions are, by
definition, fragments, as conjunctions must conjoin with other parts of the
sentence to be complete. Any phrase missing its subject or verb is likely a
fragment; a however, some clauses that have subjects and verbs may still
be fragments, if they do not convey a full thought and require another
sentence to complete the information.

Morning:
I visited the Woodford County Public School. First the principal said some words to
us and explained about the high school. This high school offer programs for
everybody for Military Academy Programs. There are 75 teachers and personal as
secretaries, cafeterias workers. There are four elementary schools and one middle
school in Kentucky. 98% is the graduation rate. The teachers are really strong to
prepare students for high school. The school provides more extensive supporting
classes as Math for whatever they choose for high school and prepare for other
careers too.
Then, the Panamanian Educators was divided into seven groups to visit different
classroom inside this school.
The first thing that called me attention was the English Department tutoring
Schedule. This is one important aspect to take into consideration by all
Panamanian English Department.
The students in this high school have the opportunity to choose between the
Chinese and Spanish. They choose more Spanish.
The second thing that called me attention was that they have a distinguished
student body.
This day, the students dressed about their favorite character. Each class has to
dress and participate using the yellow and black color.
One of the subjects there is Food and Nutrition. The class is about Different Types
of Foods. They have cooking classes and there are oven and all the materials to
cook. If during this class, there is one students who need to go out or go to the
restroom he/she must sign up on a piece of paper as the time to go ut as the time
he/she returns to class.
k-5th is elementary school, 6 th, 7th and 8th middle school and 9 th, 10th, 11th and 12th
high school.
The students have 8 subjects. They have History, English, Science and Math. They
have the options to choose between other subjects as Cooking, Spanish, Chinese,
Gym and Art. Each class is about 90 minutes. They star classes at 8:10am to
3:00pm.
I observed the Spanish classes there. The teacher wrote the objective in English
and Spanish. The school gave the students an ipod for each class and they return
it at the end of the year. After they graduate, they have the option to buy it if they
want.
Also, I observed the Agricultural class. They have an oral presentation. Every time
a student participates the others give applause. Then the teacher said: books
passed away, the only thing is pen and the students develop a test. Nobody spoke
during the test

BUFFALOS IN MIDWAY
There is a buffalo farm in Midway, around Coach Station Road and E Leestown
Pike. The farm belongs to the Phillips Family. The owner brought the animals from
Richmond. He started with 3 females and 1 male. Today, the farm has 22 buffalos.
The farm started the operations in 2001.
Description: A bison has shaggy, long, dark brown winter coat, and a lighter weight,
lighter brown summer coat. As is typical in ungulates, the male bison are slightly
larger than the female and, in some cases, can be considerably heavier. Plains
bison are often in the smaller range of sizes, and Wood bison in the large range.
CAMELS IN MIDWAY
The camel is large, strong desert animal.
Camels can travel great distances across dry desert with little food or water. The
birth weight of calf is between 30-40 kg. A fully grown camel can weigh up to 700
kg or 1542 pounds.
Camels eat grass and grains such as wheat and oat. Camels have a large mouth
with 34 sharp teeth. There are two different types of camels. The Arabian camel
has only one hump and the Bactrian camel has two humps.
We can find Arabian Camels in Midway.
Afternoon:
Each group presented their projects. The first group was The buffalos. I liked their
role play. They made this presentation in a different way acting in a tv news
channel. All the content was clear and I learned that in Midway there are 22
buffalos and they eat the same as cows. The second was group the Alpacas.
They presented like as they were in a class. I learned about that the alpacas. The
last group was The Camels. I was in this group and we really made an excellent
job. I like that our classmates participated in all the activities as singing, puzzle,
questions and answers and description. The key is definitely working in teams.
After the presentations was the time for the Nature Journaling. I read about each
step. The first step is freewriting. It is free and spontaneous. The time to write is
five minute of anything that comes to your mind. Then, the field notes involve
observation, interpretation and speculation. Next is nature writing and the last is
drawing. The assignment was to watch outside the nature and write about it. The
nature teach us something
