Exploratory Advising

Advised exploring (undecided) first-year students during orientation on the selection of classes for
their first semester
Assessed the effectiveness of the Exploratory Advising sections of a First Year Seminar course in
terms of retention, major declaration and students overall academic success
Provided assistance in the academic advising of upperclassmen in the Exploratory Advising program
Entered student data and contact information in Banner and Microsoft Access
Served as an active member of the interview days committee; a program hosted for incoming higher
education students to assist them in finding graduate assistantships
Communicated with 20+ employers to collect job descriptions, candidate interest and interview
schedules throughout the interview days process
Coordinated the interview schedule based on the preferences of all candidates and employers
participating in the program
Worked within a team to plan major campus programs including Welcome Back Week,
Homecoming Week, and numerous other special events throughout the year
Developed creative marketing via social media and other non-traditional outlets to make students
aware of important on-campus programming
Advised two student groups and developed programming related to special interests on Lawrence
Techs campus, specifically for LGBT students and commuter students
Developed and promoted a discount program for students, faculty and staff by working with
members of the campus and Southfield communities
Assisted in the restructuring of the First Year Experience Mentor Program, as well as reorganization
and execution of mentor training and Discovery Days (freshmen orientation)
Coordinated meetings with the staff to set goals and to plan for future events
Planned events in order to put on successful events for a diverse population of students
Created and executed creative marketing strategies in order to obtain the maximum attendance at
each event
