Lindens Library by Lyrissa

Katelyn is blonde haired, brown eyes girl that is adopted. She is twelve years
old but she has skipped a grade and is in 8 th grade. Her parents died when she was
very young. A very kind couple had come and adopted her. She lived next to a small
library in London and the librarians name is Mr. Linden.
One Day, Katelyn went to the small little library and wanted to get Harry Potter and
the Chamber of Secrets. She had always been shy because she had been moved
around to different families. Mr. Linden had been one of her first and only true
friend.
When she walked in Mr. Linden gave her his usual smile that he did when she
came in everyday. Mr. Linden was an older man who had brown hair that had
started to grey. He had deep blue eyes and was short. He had a kind and cheerful
face. He was reshelving books as she walked to the Harry Potter section.
The library was full of windows close to the ceiling. There were four tables
close to Mr. Lindens desk that was also next to a reading center with stairs that
were in the floor. The reading area had wooden tile floors and the steps of the stairs
functioned as chairs for people to read on. Katelyn walked around the reading area,
last time she sprained her ankle because she was reading her book while she was
walking and had fallen down and sprained her ankle.
She made it to the Harry Potter bookshelf that was built into the wall. She
grabbed the Chamber of Secrets. She walked to Mr. Linden who was sitting at his
desk and he was reading his book.
Right before she handed it to him his eyes got huge. You dont want that
book surely? he said Mr. Linden held up the book and Katelyn saw that is had a
yellow page at the very back that was different than any other Chamber of Secret
books she had every borrowed. She hadnt noticed that yellow page before.
Katelyn couldnt understand what was wrong with the book. Yes, I do. Said
Katelyn sternly. Fine said Mr. Linden. Mr. Linden forced a small laugh and took the
book to check it out.
Katelyn felt like something was still wrong with the book, but Mr. Linden
wasnt telling her. She was going to ask Mr. Linden what was wrong, but at the last
minute she decided against it and said Mr. Linden, am I allowed to call you your
real name? You know Charles?
No, just Mr. Linden. Said Mr. Linden. Fine said Katelyn as she took the
book in her hand and walked away with an attitude.
Katelyn came home and went to her mother and asked her what they were
going to have for dinner. Her mother said they were going to have tacos, and after a
great dinner of chicken tacos Katelyn went to bedroom, dropper her bag next to her
bed and pulled out the Chamber of Secrets book.
While Katelyn was reading the Chamber of Secrets she didnt see anything
particularly strange about the book, other than a few of the words were spelled

wrong. She had already read about 3 chapters and it was getting late, so she
thought her mind was playing tricks on her.
She was comfy laying on her bed and she was wearing her pajamas so she
fell asleep that night with the book still open. She woke up on a hard stone floor,
and she saw a staircase right beneath her feet. As she stood up she saw that the
staircase jerked around and it ended up in another spot. Then she saw a group of
students in black robes. They looked about her age but they were carrying book
bags over their shoulders and they were all carrying different wands.
All the students were talking about their class. She turned around and saw
three students she recognized at once as Ron, Harry and Hermione from the Harry
Potter books. She realized that she was at Hogwarts. Hermione was arguing with
Harry and Ron about classes, Katelyn wanted to know what they were talking about
so she decided to follow them.
Ron, Harry and Hermione went to the Gryffindor common room. Katelyn was
thinking she was probably in a dream, but everything in the room was so real. She
walked into the common.
Fred and George Weasly jumped out at her from around the corner. They
noticed that Katelyn wasnt wearing Gryfinndor colors so they both put the leg lock
curse on her.
Lets put her in a storage closet, then Filch will probably find her and take
care of her said Fred.
Hermione ran up and pushed George out of the way and said Get away from
her. She undid the leg locker curse and Katelyn got up off the ground and said
Thanks.
Are you ok? Is there anything I can do for you? asked Hermione.
There is a book that was in my world that somehow brought me into this
world said Katelyn.
Hermione went to Ron and Harry and described what had happened to
Katelyn. Katelyn had brought the book with her. Hermione used a spell on the book
to detect any magic. She had found out that the book had been cursed. She went
straight to the library with Katelyn. Hermione had lent Katelyn some Gryffindor
clothing so she wouldnt look odd.
They went into the library and Hermione performed a destroying spell on one
of the book cases so that the book case exploded throwing books everywhere.
Everyone in the library was distracted while Katelyn, who wasnt magical, could
sneak into the restricted section and find a book on curses. They took the book into
one of the big storage closets.
Hermione started flipping through the pages of the book to see if she could
find something about the cursed book. Hermione found potion in the book that
could reverse the curse and bring Katlyn back to her land. The only issue was that
one of the ingredients was in Snapes office.
We need to get a phoenix feather out of Snapes office. Said Hermione.
How are we going to do that? asked Ron.

We could have Katelyn use the invisibility cloak and take her to class with
us. When Snape opens the closet to get the ingredients for class she could sneak in
around him and get the feather.
The next day Katelyn was very nervous walking around the school covered in
the invisibility cloak. They walked down to the dungeon where it was dark and a
couple of torches were burning on the wall. They waited by the door of the
classroom.
Ron saw Snape coming around to open the classroom door. A whole bunch of
kids went into the classroom and went to their seats. Katelyn nearly ran into Draco
Malfoy. He barely felt her hit him, but he still whipped around to see what hit him.
Hermione leaned over and muttered to Katelyn Do you know what to do?
Yes, I remember she said.
When everyone was in class seated, Snape went over to the supply closet.
Katelyn quickly ran over to the closet and saw the phoenix on the top shelf . She
wasnt sure how she was going to reach it. Snape left the door to the closet open
when he was going in and out getting supplies.
There was a ruler in the closet, so she decided to grab the ruler and used it to
scoot the phoenix feather towards to edge of the shelf. Snape looked into the office
and saw the phoenix feather fall off the top shelf and fall down to the ground.
Katelyn was surprised and dropped the ruler down to the ground.
Keep working snapped Snape, as he walked over to his office closet and
grabbed the ruler. When he turned around he saw that the door had slammed
behind him. He looked around the floor and saw that the feather was gone. Katelyn
had grabbed the feather and run out the door while Snape was walking into the
closet.
Katelyn ran all the way back to the Gryffindor common room. She sat down in
one of the chairs and picked up the book Quidditch through the ages and she
started to read the book waiting for Ron, Hermione and Harry to come back.
Hermione came into the room and said Did you get it? Yes said Katelyn
as she pulled out the feather. I have the rest of the ingredients in Moaning Myrtles
bathroom, lets go there now.
Hermione and Katelyn walked over to the bathroom. Moaning Myrtle came
over and said Are you looking for this? She had a little holly leaf that was in her
hand. Hermione asked her Why did you take that?
Because I rarely get to have any fun. Katelyn ran into the middle of the two
girls. She sternly told them to stop fighting. We need to get this potion done.
Fine, said Hermione, grabbing the leaf out of Mrytles hand. Hermione put the
holly leaf in a small black kettle pot, put in some boiling water, put in a claw from a
hippogriff, and then put in the phoenix feather. There was a loud hissing sound and
when Katelyn looked into the kettle the colors red and blues swirled around to make
purple.
Hermione took the potion and poured it onto the book and said goodbye to
Katelyn. Katelyn took the book from Hermione and sat down. She opened the book
and laid down on the ground and fell asleep.

Mr. Linden had been gloomy all day because when he had called Katelyns
parents house they said she was not home. He knew what had happened with the
book, because he knew it was cursed. He had warned her not to read it, but now it
was too late. He thought he would never see Katelyn again.
He was reshelving books when Katelyn ran in. She had woke up in her own
bed with the book open next to her. She had grabbed the book and ran to Mr.
Lindens library.
Now will you be sure to listen to me when I warn you about a book, said Mr.
Linden.
Of course, but you still need to make the warning more obvious. She said.
She tore the pages and threw the book in a fire with Mr. Lindens permission.
She promised he would take Mr. Lindens advice from now on.
