Video Games Dont Kill
All around the world, adolescent males and some females, play violent video games.
Some people think that violent video games are perilous to teens, while others think the
aggressive games are diverting for the teens. Violent video games are diverting and harmless to
teens and young adults because the games they play dont lead to actual violence in the real
world. These wholesome games and their consoles include parental controls that limit a childs
access to games based on the games ratings. Because of these games continuing to be bought
and sold, violent crime is falling in the U.S. and may also have potential benefits for young
players.
While some say that violent video games are perilous -or dangerous- to teens and young
players, some believe that the hazardous games may also have potential benefits for young
players that include providing children with the opportunity to negotiate societys rules and roles,
allowing children to experiment with aggression in a safe setting without real world
consequences. (Essential Facts About Games and Violence)
No study has ever shown that violent video games result directly in actual violence, let
alone mass shootings. Participants who were chosen in two studies of violent video games and
aggression, were either randomized or allowed to choose to play a violent or nonviolent video
game. Although males were more aggressive than females, neither showed exposure to violent

game conditions nor previous real life exposure to violent video games caused any differences in
aggression. (Essential Facts About Games and Violence)
Results indicated that trait aggression, family violence, and male gender were predictive
of violent crime but exposure to violent video games was not. All new video games and their
consoles include parental controls that limit a childs access to games based on their ratings.
According to a study done in 2012, 73% of parents believe parental controls are useful.
(Essential Facts About Games and Violence)
Violent crime in the U.S. is falling as violent video games become more popular. Some
believe that electronic games may also have potential benefits for young players that include
providing children with the opportunity to negotiate societys rules and roles, allowing children
and young adults to experiment with aggression in a safe setting without real world
consequences.(Forbes)
In conclusion, violent video games arent really dangerous or threatening to teens and
young adults, people just make them seem worse than they really are. The games dont cause
adolescents to have violent thoughts, its really caused by either trait aggression, family violence,
or male gender that cause real world violence. The games are diverting young peoples minds
from the real world and letting them take their aggression out on pixelated people on the screen
in front of them. As the violent games grow more and more popular, violent crime in the U.S.
continue to fall as these games become more well liked. Adults and parents may be concerned
for the mental and physical health of their children, but all new video games and their consoles
include parental controls that limit a childs access to games based on their ratings. Some say the
computerized games also have benefits for young players like providing them with the
opportunity to negotiate societys rules and roles and letting them experiment with aggression in

a safe setting without the consequences from the real world. So again, its not the video games
that are bad, its just how the people make them sound.
