Perks of Video Games
I think that video games are helpful and not harmful to kids or teens. People who think
video games are bad for kids or teens are incorrect in my mind. The only way they could be
harmful is if they go out and buy the video games themselves and their parents dont supervise.
But in an article it says that 91% of parents buy the video games and watch their kids play.
Although I believe that video games can help teens I still believe that video games can
harm teens. Some ways that video games can harm teens is because during video games they are
practicing hurting people and they could go and do that when they are older since they learned
how to do this when they were teens or still are. Also because if they get addicted to playing
video games they could spend less time with their family and friends and not finishing their
school work. And because they could be bullying other teens if they didnt want them to join
their game or group.
The first reason why I think that video games dont harm kids or teens is that they
actually decrease the level of violence in the word according to an article. That article also states
that there is no scientific proof that violent video games and the things that they do find are
inconclusive and not true. And because the same article says that no psychological study can
answer the question if video games are harmful to kids and teens. Reasons why the world is less
violence is because the criminals are too busy playing these games and are getting caught up in
things that are not real. I think this is satisfactory type of information because in the article

Essential facts about games and violence it said that world violence has went down since the
1990s.
The second the reason why i think that video games help teens is because it can increase
their friendships with people that they play video games with. Why I think this is because that
most people like to play video games with other people and so they need to communicate about
what they are going to be doing. In that sense video games also help people with their
communication skills. In the article when they were sleeping in vans and such they had to
communicate for that to actually happen they didnt just go and sleep in so random persons van.
Another reason why I think that video game can help teens is when they play video
games they can have their friends over at their house to play video games, also they could do
homework and then play video games. Which can improve their friendships. Also their
teamwork. How this improve teamwork you may ask well it helps because if something requires
two people to beat then the two people have to work together to get it done. In the article they
talk about how most of them were friends and they played the game together as a team, which
required them to have some sort of friendship.
In conclusion I believe that video games can help teens. Some reasons why I think this is
because it can improve their friendships and communication skills. Also because it can improve
their skill on understanding technology. Also another reason why I think that video games have a
lot of evidence that no scientific evidence has been so inconclusive and none of it has been found
also the fact that the violence has went down since the 1990s is huge to the video gaming
industry.
