What are volts, amps, and watts?

Volts (V) measure the force (strength) of electricity.

Amps measure the amount of electricity used.

Watts measure the work electricity does per second.

How many volts, amps, and watts are in GKI mini light sets?
Amperage equals the number of bulbs multiplied by the wattage of each bulb divided by 110
volts. A breakdown of volts, amps, and watts for each GKI mini light set is presented below by

What does UL mean?
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization
that controls and monitors lighting rules and safety regulations. A "UL-approved" designation
means a product has been approved by this agency.

What does CSA mean?
CSA stands for Canadian Standards Association. CSA certifications are used and accepted across
North America and around the world, on over 1 billion products. And that number continues to
grow.
In the United States, CSA International is accredited by the Occupational Health and Safety
Administration (OSHA) as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Generally
speaking, all OSHA accredited laboratories conduct their tests against the same sets of U.S.
standards and codes, regardless of who authors or publishes them. CSA International tests are
applicable to U.S. standards, which include ANSI, UL, CSA, NSF, and others. In Canada, CSA
International is accredited as a Certification Organization (CO) and as a Testing Organization
(TO) by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).

What are BL (Bethlehem) Mini Lights?

Balanced spacing of precisely 5.5" between lamps. UL listed for indoor and outdoor use.
How long will a Perm-O-Snap or Bethlehem Mini Light bulb burn?
In a controlled and stable environment, these bulbs will burn up to 3,000 hours. Outdoor
elements that cause extreme wear and tear may lower their normal burn time and life cycle. Our
200 milliamp bulbs produce long lasting lights and our superior color dye process ensure vibrant
color.
If a few of the bulbs burn out on a Perm-O-Snap or Bethlehem Mini Light set, will the
rest of the bulbs light?
Yes. If a few of the bulbs burn out the rest of the bulbs will stay lit. However, the remaining
bulbs will burn brighter, use more electrical power, and will eventually burn out faster than if all
the bulbs were burning evenly.
How many Perm-O-Snap or Bethlehem Mini Light sets can be plugged in together endto-end?
A total of three (3) sets may be plugged in together end-to-end. All end-to-end connections must
be with the same bulb types and same numbers of bulbs on a strand.
How many C7 and C9 lights can be plugged in together end-to-end?
Up to a combined maximum total of 100 bulbs can be plugged in together end-to-end.
Can I connect together, end-to-end, my 35-light set and my 50-light set and/or my 100-light
set?
No. Connect together only light sets of the same type with the same number of bulbs. Different
light set styles have different voltages and should not be connected end-to-end.
How long is a strand of 50-light Mini Lights?
Bethlehem Mini Light sets have 5.5" spacing = 24' each strand. Perm-O-Snap Mini Light Sets
have 6" spacing = 25' each strand.
How many 20-gauge Heavy Duty 110-light sets can I plug in together end-to-end?
You may plug in together a total of six (6) 100-light sets, or a maximum of 600 bulbs.

What is a Micro light?

A Micro light is a smaller version of the Mini POS light. However, the bulbs are low voltage, use
less electricity, and last up to 12,000 hours.
Are Micro light bulbs replaceable?
Yes. Each light set comes with a package of replaceable bulbs. Micro lights feature the (Perm-OSnap) patented internal design lamp lock feature.
How many Micro light sets can be plugged in together end-to-end?
None. They do not have end-to-end connectors. Instead, these lights have low voltage adaptors
and multi-function controllers.
Are Micro lights designed for both indoor and outdoor use?
No. Micro lights are for indoor use only.
What is the difference between a Mini and a Micro light?
Micro lights are smaller in size and do not have end-to-end connectors. They are designed for
indoor use only and have thinner wires that are easier to hide. Mini lights are able to connect up
to three light sets end-to-end and can be used both indoors and out.
What is an LED and how long do LED bulbs burn?
LED stands for light emitting diode. These bulbs do not contain filaments, the substance that
burns out in traditional bulbs. LED light sets last on average ten times longer and use 1/10 the
power of standard mini lights. They also emit a brighter and more distinct color using less
energy. LEDs are constructed from tiny solid-state chips similar to those used in computers.
These chips directly convert electricity to light without the use of a filament or glass bulb.
Instead, the chips are encased in solid plastic that can be made into a variety of shapes and sizes.
LEDs are also good for applications where vibration often leads to early failure of conventional
light sources. Being a solid-state device, LEDs are highly resistant to damage caused by
vibration.

What makes LEDs so energy efficient?
Since LEDs generate very little heat, a much higher percentage of the electrical power is going
directly to generating light, which cuts down on the electricity demands considerably. Despite a
higher initial cost, LEDs will save money in the long run due to their durability and the low cost
of operating them.
How do I select the right size tree for my home?
There are many tree sizes, shapes, and styles from which to choose. Select the space where the
tree will be displayed prior to purchasing and measure the area. For a smaller area consider
purchasing a pencil or slim tree.
Our most popular sized tree is a 7.5 foot medium profile. That's because the average ceiling
height is 8.5 feet so a 7.5 foot tree fits perfectly. You should plan to have 9" to 12" of space
between the top of your tree and the ceiling to allow for a tree topper and some air so the tree
will not look squeezed in.

What is the standard amount of mini lights to put on a well-lit tree?

To emulate the high standards of a GKI/Bethlehem tree, we suggest using anywhere from 750 to
1,200 lights for a full-sized 7.5 foot tree, depending on the type of foliage and branch density.
Are there special installation procedures for tower trees and residential tower trees 12' high
and taller?

Yes. Tower trees must be installed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. A licensed
electrician and rigger must perform installation of all tower trees. Click here for set-up

Are there special shipping and receiving requirements for tower trees and residential tower
trees 12' high and taller?
Yes. Due to their size, tower trees are shipped via common carrier and will only be delivered to
commercial locations. These locations must have an off-street receiving dock. If the ship-to
location is unable to receive common carrier shipments or the shipment is refused, the customer
will be responsible for all shipping charges.
The size of the tree components will require several workers to unload the tree from the carrier's
truck. It is the responsibility of the customer to make proper arrangements for unloading the tree.
