Honors Math 2 Conic Picture Rubric

The purpose of this project is to improve your ability to work with conic equations and restrictions.
1.

Each group of 2 students will create a Clean & Legal drawing/design on graph paper (cartoon character, sports object,
etc. BE CREATIVE!

2.

Each student group will need to complete a table that contains the following information for each
shape.

Promptness (10 pts off for each day late) March 16th

You must draw a creative design/ picture using the functions listed below:
a. 1 circle
b. 1 ellipse
c. 1 parabola
d. 1 hyperbola
e. 2 lines
f. 1 absolute value
g. Any 2 equations of your choice

6.

Hand in 4 pages
a. The graph picture
b. The graph picture with each function numbered to match the formula for the function that will
appear on the formula chart
c. The numbered formula page with domains listed beside each function/relation. A list of
functions numbered to coincide with your picture they must be numbered in a left to right,
bottom to top order so that I can easily find the piece on the picture that goes with the formula.
Each function must have the limits of its domain written in interval notation next to it. If two
pieces connect on your picture, then they must share the connection point on the picture i.e.
if I evaluate each function I would find that the point exists on both pieces.
d. The scoring rubric with group members names listed.

You will be graded on creativity, accuracy, and attention to directions. Each group will need to
create a paragraph story related to the picture.

The class will be divided into groups of two students 1 picture per group.
