This letter of recommendation is written for Leo Balayon with much pleasure because of the potential I feel Leo
has and the positive effect I feel he can have on athletes and students.
Ive coached in and have been a part of the Junior College level in California for 15 years, beginning at Santa
Monica College and ending at West Los Angeles College where I helped turn that program around, I haven't
coached for the last 4 years but I'm actively recruiting for a few Junior Colleges like Mt San Jacinto, College of
the Canyons and for various 4 year Universities. I observed Leos coaching and training styles at the D3, NAIA
and JV level over the past 3 years and see that he is a young rising star in this field. His leadership and
communication skills with his teams are noticeable and when an opening occurred to join me and my staff in our
various summer leagues we participate in I quickly asked him to join us. Leo has never given me any reason to
doubt his judgment on and off the job. Ive never seen him lose his composure, even in difficult game situations
and challenging parental discussions.
Leo demonstrated a good work ethic, good leadership abilities and a high moral standard. He worked hard for us
both on and off the court. With him sharing a lot of the load we had a great summer in having the top record in
The Drew League, which is considered the top Pro-Am in the nation , made it to the LA Summer Pro League
final Four, and made it to the Say No Classic Championship game, which is the top college league on the West
Coast. He also secured the sponsorships to allow us to compete in these high level leagues. Leo has proven to be
punctual and completes his work with a high level of quality. He has a high regard for authority which in return
has earned him the respect of our coaching staff, players and myself. Leo has always been willing to work our
open gyms and workout our players with no monetary gain for himself, only the satisfaction of bettering the
players and teams.
During our many rides to games together and conversations in the gym Leo has time and time again shown me
his love for sports, education and the development of young athletes. Leo is not afraid to make the call in team
situations, for Leo knows the meaning of hard work, dedication and discipline and has demonstrated these strong
qualities. He is confident and will be successful wherever he chooses to go. I give Leo my highest
recommendation for he is one incredible coach and individual.
