Rockville High Schoo! is located in
suburban Washington, DC, in
Rockville, Maryland. Rockville is a
residential community of about
50,000. Itis also the high tech and
biotech center and county seat of
Montgomery County. Rockville High
School is an ethnically diverse
‘comprehensive high school with
grades 9, 10, 11, 12. The school
opened in 1968 and is accredited by
the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Secondary Schools and
by the Maryland State Department of
Education,
Students are eligible to eam
certificates in the Signature Writing
program (WRITE 21), Joumalism
Academy, and Project Lead the Way
(pre-engineering) Academy. In
addition; Rockville High Schoo! offers
twenty-two Advanced Placement (AP)
courses. The AP Diploma is awarded
to students who complete five AP
courses in three subject areas and
eam a score of 3 or better on each
exam. Members of the Class of 2010
will have the opportunity to enroll in
the International Baccalaureate
Program (IB) in grade 11. Eighty
Grade 9 students are currently
enrolled in pre-IB classes to prepare
them for the rigorous academic
demands of 18.
