Irregular Past Tense Verbs (List 2)

We have learned that the suffix ed is


usually added to verbs to show past
tense.
For example: jump, jumped
The verbs below are irregular past tense
verbs that do not follow the same
pattern. You cannot add ed to the base
word. The base word changes to show
past tense.
For example: catch, caught
sleep, slept

Wordly Wise Vocabulary Test-> Thursday, February 26th.
Please have your child continue to practice reading and writing the words and sentences on the CVC (consonant, vowel,
consonant) , glued sounds (-am, -an) word lists, bonus letter lists, the ng and nk glued sound, the long a words, the long e
and long u words, the long i words, the long o words, the 4 sound consonant blend words, the 5 sound words with consonant
blends, and base words with the suffix ed and ing on the word lists.

Reminders:
Our trip to the Marathon Playhouse was rescheduled to Monday, March 2 nd. Please send in permission
slip if you havent done so yet.
Monday, February 16th- Friday, February 20th- School is closed for mid-winter recess
We are in need of tissues, red pens, and pencils. We would greatly appreciate if you can please send in
a box of tissues, a pack of red pens, and a pack of pencils. The table caddies get refilled often with
pencils, and we have run out.
-In Math, we will be working on 2-digit subtraction. Many new subtraction strategies will be introduced. If you have any
questions, please refer to the Chapter 5 Parent Reference Sheet. Also, it will be beneficial if your child is fluent in basic
subtraction facts. They will also be breaking apart a number to help them subtract.
For example: Different ways to break up 7 are-> 0+7, 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2. 6+1, 7+0
Different ways to break up 8 are-> 0+8, 1+7, 2+6, 3+5, 4+4, 5+3, 6+2, 7+1, 8+0

Please make sure to sign all homework and initial the agenda.
***Although written homework may not be given on the weekends, please make sure that your child is continuing to
read daily.
For fiction books: Please continue to work on retelling/summarizing the major events using transition words such as first,
next, then, after, finally, and last.
