was registered at the Handelsregisteramt (Office
for the Registration of Companies) in Canton Zurich, Switzerland.
As an organization working throughout the world

the foundation benefits from the fact that the
members of the Board of Directors are from diverse background coming from countries like Brazil, India, Italy, and Switzerland.

FEAs board carefully selected Switzerland as the

location for the administrative head office of the
foundation for its safety and tradition as an international center for humanitarian organizations. Donations here are not taxed and can be channelized
to the projects.
The coordination work is managed from Zurich

and New York. Board members advise on the
selection of suitable projects and commit themselves at the same time to take responsibility
to overview those projects. Each board member
takes responsibility to verify that the donations
are used for the purpose they were given on the
projects they are assigned to.

AMURT Safe Motherhood and Midwifery

Project Description
The project is a partnership between AMURT and
the Burkina Faso Department of Health. Main component is the training of village midwives in remote
tribal villages. Educating women in the project area
about maternal health, sexual health, opposing Female Genital Mutilation, literacy training, training
village health agents. 37 active village midwives
and 12 village health agents working as per December 2007.
Project Mission
To train village midwives for every 7 km radius,
to reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality,
to combat female genital mutilation, to educate
women and communities about health, focus on
maternal and sexual health, to create leadership
models for women.
Project History
AMURT started work in 1986 work includes
building hospital, cereal banks, literacy, reforestation, cooperatives, wells etc. Safe Motherhood
Project started February 2002
Request
We are between funding for the project. NORAD
in Norway has a limit of three years. The funding
stops at the end of 2007. We knew this before.
The reason we have waited to apply for further
grants, is that we wanted to wait for the independent evaluation that was conducted in November. We have just received the complete report in
French, its now being translated. Our program is
a partnership with the Burkina Faso Department of
Health.

AMURTEL Primary Health Clinic AKWAKWAA

Project Mission
Project Description
The AMURTEL Primary Health Clinic at Akwakwaa is located in Ghanas Central Region. It serves about about 200 patients a
month, with primary health care. It also has
maternit ward and does 5 to 10 deliveries
per month. The clinic trains health workers
from nearby communities to work in local
clinics.
To provide primary health care, maternal health

care and health education for aspiring health workers to the communities in the project area.
Project History
AMURTEL had a small clinic in Akwakwaa f03 five
years, before finally constructing its own building
in 2005 on a land outside of town In 2007 a second building with ward space for 20 patients and
a pharmacy was completed.
Request
This is a request for 1,500 USD to install a water
tank, and pipes to provide running water to the Akwakwaa Clinic, in Ghana. The amount of $1,000 has
been secured and given to the clinic. It was enough
to purchase the water tank and install it but not for
the rest of the installation. Therefore at the moment
the clinic has water but needs another 500 USD
to complete the installations so as to have running
water inside the building.
Update
The water tank has been installed in June 2008 with
funds from the Foundation. Thanks to all those who
contributed to the success of this Micro-donation
project.

Mafi-Zongo Water Project AMURT Ghana

Project Description
The project provides safe piped water to a population of 9,000 to 23 communities through a pipeline
network that is 48 kilometers long. It is located in
remote villages in North Tongu Distric, Volta region.
The project harvests surface water in a small dam
built on a seasonal river. The water is treated by
slow sand filtration. The water is the pumped to a
reservoir on the top of a mountain, from where the
water flows by gravity to the communities.
Request
We seek US $1,000 to make pipeline markers for
the pvc pipeline. We need more than 300 markers,
US $1,000 will give 116 markers. We will install
them on the pipeline through communal labor. The
pipe line markers are cast in concrete with iron bars.
They are 3 feet high and 7 x 7 inches square. They
will be painted blue to be very visible. Let me know
if you need the details of the manufacturing cost.

community managed project.
Project History
AMURT was first invited to the North Tongu District in 1990 to help fight guinea worm. By 1993
AMURT stared working on the Mafi-Dekpoe water
project.(this project is a partnership with Danida, it
was completed in 1998). In 1994 we were invited
to Mafi-Zongo to assist a group of communities
there. The dam was constructed in 1994. The water treatment plant finished in 2001, the water tower was completed in 2003. With funding from Italy,
the project opened in 2005 for 10 communities,
and was expanded to 23 communities in 2006.

ANANDA VIIRATA in Bissiri, Burkina Faso

Project Description
Our center is situated just at the edge of the artificial lake of Bissiri, deep in the country side of
Burkina Faso, 45 kilometers south of the capital,
Ouagadougou.
The region is extremely poor, with high rate of unemployment, dirt roads, no electricity, bore holes
as a source of water, mud brick huts as shelter and
more than 80% people illiterate. People traditionally make their living by growing their own food and
rearing cattle for the most fortunate.
We have 4 hectares of land divided in two plots
and 3 buildings. The main structure is a dormitory
style building, another big store room houses our
cereal bank, and a two room building has become
a small clinic. The land was given by the community who expect us to assist in their development
by creating employment and helping them satisfy
their basic necessities of life.
Project History
The Bissiri Community Center was started in the

early 1990s, after Dada Rudreshvaranandaji flew
over the village on the way to Ouagadougou.
What he saw from the air was a large water
source, and lots of underutilized land. Once on
the ground, he found the village and discovered
that there was a high rate of unemployment and
felt the peoples determined will to fulfill their
most basic needs. Since its genesis, the center
has expanded to include literacy classes, cultivation of organic vegetables (maraichage) and a
community-based cereal bank. Within the last
4 years we have been able to open a primary health clinic, which employs two professional
nurses. This social clinic is the first of its kind
in the area, and serves over 5,000 people from
Bissiri and surrounding villages.
Request
This is our wish to improve the center by getting a
water tower to fit on our bore hole. This is a basic
need for our tree nursery, clinic and processing
facility for Moringa production.

Multi Purpose Platform in Bissiri, Burkina Faso

Project Description
We have been working for 2 years with the OCADES association (some local catholic association)
so that the Fulbe Potal can possibly get a multi
purpose platform, that is an engine that generate power for a mill, a wet mill, a husk remover,
a welding platform and some extra devices. It is a
great opportunity, they would install it at the market, and that group of women will run and manage
it (being trained for that).
Project History and Progress
The Master Unit keep growing and has become

a real cakra for our community here. The last
donation from Foundation Emanuele Antola, the
oil mill, is providing pesticide to very many of our
farmers! (neem oil) and we are cooking with our
own peanut oil, is really nice.
We have been working a lot with Moringa, it is
also getting big and the demand is growing everyday for that wonderful powder. We are working
with a groupement of women (see picture below,
the Fulbe Potal group) and they are fantastic in
work and sincerity in processing the leaves.

OCADES is asking a participation
of 600 USD cash plus a house to
shelter the machine. Thanks to the
work they did with us the Fulbe
Potal managed to collect the 600
USD cash, but remains the house
to build. They need support for that
and the estimate is 1000 USD.

Impact of Microdonations in Bissiri, Burkina Faso

The second the motorcycle for our local coordinator in our activities in Sahel is completely broken old.
I need to get a new one in emergency. Our motorcycle there is indispensable, the distances from village to village being so big and the roads so nonexistent. We need to get the same one i got for the
project in Bissiri MU last time.
I am sending you some compact public health proposals. One idea, that your board might like, is a the
purchase of a motorcycle for the public health work.
Our people can use it to reach the remote villages for
the health education. Its very important. And it will be
something very concrete, the motorcycle cost 1,300 cedis, which is just close to $900, the rest will be for registration of the motorcycle and a couple of helmets. So
its good for accounting and documentation, as it is very
simple. It would make a big difference for our work.
Other than that, you could select some aspects of these
programs and fund them. It would be something I think
the Foundation could be proud to associate with.
First microdonation: Beginning 2009 our theater project got selected and we obtained a grant for buying the background and some more items related to our play. It was used for 2 years of sensitization
and over 30 shows on topics such as hygiene, forced mariage, HIV, sells of prohibited drugs, etc.Direct
beneficiaries over 1250 people.
We have a break now due to the security issued in the area, which do not allow me reach there for 6
month now. But the material is with us and will be used as soon as the conditions are met.
Second microdonation: December 2009, we purchased a motorcycle 125cc for the work of our coordinator in Bissiri. The motorcycle till today is used daily and serves all the work related to the growing
project. It makes possible to the workers to reach the nearby city 12 kms away through dirt road in about
30 mn. It has been so used that we are thinking to get a second motorcycle to lighten the burden on
that one.
Third microdonation: June 2010, we purchased a generator, a projector plus few items related to the
functioning of both. We used those item regularly for our maternal programs, some cultural programs in
the north (Sahel) as well as in MU and other localities where AMURT is present. The use may increase

as our AMURT work tend to focus more and more on education and facilitation of already existing groups
of women.
Fourth microdonation: December 2010, we purchased another motorcycle 125 cc for the work of our
coordinator in Dou. We are covering more than 35 villages in a radius reaching over 40 miles of a
rocky and sandy landscape. Actually the motorcycle was so much used for the purpose of supervising
the work of our 33 village midwives that it is quite worn out and we already bought an other motorcycle
to support it!
Fifth microdonation: the flour mill bought in August 2011 is functioning 6 days a week, 12 hours a
day. The maintenance is being well done and it has
become part of the villagers life now. It has proved
a sustainable asset to the village, a great success.
Sixth microdonation: September 2011 the millet was purchased and stored in AMURT stores in
Sahel. We first wanted to keep resell the whole of
it at cost price (functioning as a bank of cereal).
But recently with the Mali crisis and the refugees
coming we finally decided to distribute it to some
families in dire need. That is it was used as a relief
in the end and the efforts to consolidate a bank of
cereal are postponed to a post crisis future.
Seventh microdonation: February 2012 the tricycle
for our MU was purchased with the help of both Antola Foundation and Aile Universelle (France). This
tricycle serves so many purposes: selling of vegetables in nearby cities, transport of material (building is
on going in the MU: processing facilities and a school are being build right now, as well as a workshop
for bakery purpose, shed for material, etc), transport of other material for the community needs, etc. This
was literally a revolution in Bissiri after a non ending area of donkey cart!
Eighth microdonation: July 2012 we could purchase the necessary equipment for having light in our
clinic in MU (Bissiri, Ananda Viirata) at night and light for our literacy classes. The number of patients
in the clinic keeps on increasing and light as brighten the nights and eased the work of our nurses! The
demand has increased now and we are looking for funds to increase the power of the solar panel as
the community found here a source to charge their mobiles, torch, etc!

Reproductive Health Clubs in Secondary Schools, Ghana

AMURT has had a presence in North Tongu District for 25 years. The Mafi-Zongo Water Project
and the Mafi-Seva Community Clinic, with maternal health and health education outreach programs,
have made a deep impact. Both projects are community owned and managed by the community
now.
The major public health issues in the area are related to repoductive health. There is a large number of unsafe abortions, unwanted teenage pregnancies, and sexually transmitted diseases. To
address, in 2012 AMURT started clubs for teenage
girls in secondary four secondary schools. In 2013
the program was extended to include boys too.
In the program, staff from Mafi-Seva Community
Clinic, assisted by AMURT volunteers, carry out
educational programs for the teenagers.
The program address very basic sex education on

how children are made, pregnancy and birth, family
planning, sexually transmitted diseases, abortion,
rape, etc. The teenages do role play and stage
dramas that they present to the other students in
their schools.
Once a year, AMURT sponsors and excursion the
sea-side. For almost all the teenagers it will be
their first experience seeing the see and playing
the water. Expenses include t-shirts, stationaries,
excursion, and some small allowances for the facilitators.
We will use the USD 1,000 like this:

AMURT Nigeria - Offia Oji Health Centre

Project History
Project Description
The clinic is community owned and community
managed. The community provided labour for the
construction, the building materials were provided by ActionAid through a distance child adoption program. The government posted a few staff
and AMURT recruited additional staff from the local community. AMURT provided all the furniture,
equipment and open inventories. Since the opening day, AMURT has assisted the health centre
with regular doctor visits, and training for the staff.
AMURT also assisted to build additional rooms,
staff quarters and water supply. The health centre
has an ambulance for emergency referrals.
The Offia Oji Health Centre opened four years

ago. Its located in a disputed border area between Cross River and Ebonyi State, just in front
of an important local farmers market.
Today the health centre has a staff of fourteen.
Due to the hard work and service spirit of the
staff, the number of patients is very high. It was
necessary to constructed another building to accomodate the mothers and patients. The wing is
going to be for ante-natal, delivery and post-natal
with one ward for children. THe health centre has
deliveries every day, averaging 45 deliveries per
month in the last months.

The building is now up, the painting has just started. Here are some of the main equipments that we
need for the new building:

Ecole Privee Neo-Humaniste in Lome, Togo

This is an urgent appeal for support from the
Antola Foundation for our master unit school in
Lome, Togo.
Four classrooms have been constructed in the
past year. This has transformed the project and
public image dramatically for the best.
We immediately need to arrange desks and benches for the classrooms. Classes are to begin on
Monday, 22nd September!
We needs 60 bench desks (each one seats 2

students). The cost is about US$14 15 per bench.
This comes to $840 900, just within the amount
you allocate per project.
The school serves the local community well. The
public schools areovercrowded and deliver low
quality instruction. The other privateschools are
costly for the lower income families.

re-opened in its new four-classroom building in October, 2008. With nearly 100 pupils attending the
Director and teachers felt an urgent need for sufficient number of desks/benches as well as basic
classroom materials.

128 pupils) and to purchase books (mathematics
and a dictionary) and office supplies.

Update
We have now good drinkable water! Beside the
electric pump we have also a hand pump in case
electricity is unavailable. The electric pump is not
fixed at the new building for the time being because
we cannot live there yet as the construction is going on. But the pump stays at the neighbors and is
brought to our land when needed. Instead of plastic
filter we got stainless steel filter which should be
working better.

Microdonations and their impact

Sometimes we wonder what was the impact of the Foundations microdonations program. What benefits did it bring
and was it really useful.
Here are some facts from a Microdonation to AMURT West
Africa which was approved about a year ago, in the end
of February 2012.
The project aimed to reduce maternal mortality rate and
save lives of mothers and newborns in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
For that AMURT used the Microdonation to purchase three
NASGs Non-pneumatic anti-shock garments. These garments are used to save the lives of women who suffer
from postpartum hemorrhage, that is heavy bleeding after
delivery.

Oct 11, 2012 After Martina gave birth to

her baby daughter late Tuesday night, she
suffered severe post-partum hemorrhage.
The birth attendants at Offia Oji Health
Center applied the anti-shock garment and
she was taken to Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki. After the heavy rains the
roads were so bad, the journey took almost
three hours, when it should be just over 90
minutes. Martina was transfused and is now
recovering. Hopefully she will be discharged
tomorrow.

birth.

Hemorrhage Management Training today at Odeligbo. Here are Ifeyani and Blessing practicing how to
apply the non-pneumatic-anti-shock-garment. This is the most effective tool available to save the lives

Rarh Hostel windows in Uma Nivas, India

Project History
Project Description
The Rarh Hostel has around 40 resident hostel
children and over 100 students in a primary school
which runs on the first floor (upper floor) of the
hostel building.
The project urgently needs windows and grills for
the primary school as the small children are studying in rooms with gaping holes for windows, which
is extremely dangerous.
The Rarh hostel has been running for many years,

initially as a primary school hostel, and in recent
years, the small primary school located in Uma
Nivas High School was transferred to the Rarh
Hostel building, as the high school is further from
the village and it was more difficult for the small
children to go there due to the distance.
Project Mission
For 2-3 years the primary school was run in

2 small downstairs rooms, but as numbers increased, the principal started to construct rooms
on the upper floor of the building.
To provide quality education for the local tribal children from the villages around Uma Nivas.
Now, although these classrooms are not complete, the school is running there.
Request
The lack of windows and grills makes it extremely
dangerous, especially for the very small children.
We request a microdonation of $ 1.000 for the
purpose of completing this important improvement.

Our school is in poor class locality. There are

Project Description
Project History
This project of Rain Water Harvesting is to create

awareness in the society and overcome on water
shortage. From month February to July there is
acute shortage of water. We want to build 30,000
liter underground water tank to collect rain water. It
will help lot to organize different programs.
It is started year 2010 at small village Bandhivali

(Raigad District) with two aged monks. Now a
days there is big building for different activities
for different age groups. We started Computer
training course for village school children with 12
computers. We conduct Youth Camps, Meditation
camps and school excursions etc.

Homeopathic Dispensary in Tiljala, India

I have just returned from India and in Kolkata I
saw the Homeopathic dispensary that operates in
Tiljala.
It is a very nice project and serving a very poor
population.
From its inception the clinic treated over 700,000

patients.
The request of micro donation is for funds to purchase medicines. $1,000. This would be enough
to purchase 5 months of medicines - $200/month.
They charge 1 Rp per bottle of medicine while the Plus the 1 rupee charged when those medicines
real cost is close to two rupees. The clinic also are given out would raise the funds to pay doctors.

Hospital project in rural India

Project Description and Mission
A charitable rural health care project, combining
multi-disciplinary conventional and alternative medical outpatient services with health education programmes in the villages of the community.
To uplift the health and educational standard of the
impoverished rural population through:
- Holistic medical services for the poor, offered on
a charitable basis, combining conventional and alternative therapies by skilled professionals.
- Health and hygiene education through regular
programmes in the villages of the area.
- Training of primary health care workers, who
work in their villages to expand and strengthen the
health care network of the region.

The project started in April 2005 with the purchase of 0.9 acres of undeveloped land. During
the following weeks several medical camps were
held on the land using tents. Within 2 months a
small temporary clinic building was constructed,
so that regular outpatient services could commence in acupuncture, homeopathy and allopathy
(Western medicine). Due to financial limitations,
until present acupuncture is held 3 days a week,
homeopathy 5 days a week and allopathy one
day a week.
In February 2006, a herbal garden was started,

Drinking Water Supply in Silchar, Assam, India

Project Description and Mission
We need to dig a bore well of 150 feet deep for
providing drinking water for the Ashram. We have a
children home here with 7 girls and 2 old women.
usually the water there is rich with iron. So, we
need to put a natural water filter for purifying the
same water.
Didi wants to provide safe drinking water for the
Orphanage she runs and also to the local tribal
people. She also runs free medical clinic serves
the local tribal. She wants to improve these service
programs for the local people and improve their
living condition.
This Ashram was started in 1994 by Didi Ananda

Devaprana. the land was donated by local people
for running childrens home and old age home for
ladies. Mostly tribal poor people and Muslims live
around our neighborhood. We also used to keep
poor girls in the hostel for their education. Didi
Ananda Arundhati is posted there since July this
year. She is very sincere and hard working Didi.
She is trying to hard to improve the living condition there so that she can give more service to
the needy people of the area. The water there is
having high level of iron content full of foul smell,
even the nails become yellow by the water.

School uniforms distribution, Myanmar (Burma)

Project Background
On May 3rd 2008 Cyclone Nargis destroyed over 4,000
schools. AMURT in cooperation with the Basic Education
Department is rebuilding schools in the affected areas.
At present AMURT has built 4 temporary schools and
is preparing for the construction of 7 permanent schools
which will also serve as cyclone shelters.

Rain water collection system at the Childrens Home in Thailand

Update
The fifth Microdonation, in July 2011, benefited a childrens home project in Thailand
by providing the funds to a Rain Water
Collection Project. The water would then
be used at the childrens home in Huay
Malai, Sangklaburi, Thailand. The project
director, Ricardo Zoleta of the Baan Dada
Childrens Home and Community Services, aimed to collect water during the long
months of rainy season to use in the day
to day life at the home. There are currently almost 60 children in the home.

Project Description
This project will convert one storeroom on the 1st
floor in our homeless youth centre in Domnesti,
into one new bath and toilet room. This renovation
will include two (2) toilets and three (3) shower
cabins (see the attached image). At present the
storeroom is 12 m2 and will be extended to 14.6
m2. At the moment the centre has only two toilets
and one shower on the ground floor. The maximum capacity of accommodation in the centre is 15
beds and whenever all beds are filled, the bathing
is a problem. Also, this year with the United Way
of Romania funds, several vocational courses will
be held during daytime with an attendance of 25
persons. This new facility is an urgent necessity.
From 1993 to 2008, Domnesti Centre was a

children home for 8 boys. When the boys where
integrated to Bucharest, having job and place to
stay, the Centre was made to one transitional life
and vocational skill centre for homeless youths
(boys of 18 to 26 years old). Since 2009 a successful project.
In 2010 AMURT Romania received US 1,000
from your Foundation for one central heating, as
well as, in 2013 to refurbish one of AMURTs
apartments. These two supports were of great
value.

Children play area for Ananda Marga Kindergarten in Albania

Location and Background
The school is situated 15 km from Tirana, the capital

of Albania. The district where the school is located
is called Bathore. This area was a large state owned
farm during the communist period (1945-1990).
We started in October 2000, with one teacher in

one classroom and 20 children. We expanded to
two classrooms and two teachers and 40 students
in January 2001. In March 2003 we moved to our
present building which has three classrooms, three
teachers and up to 65 children.
Following the collapse of communism in Albania,

migrants from Albanias northern provinces began to
settle on this land (as squatters). They built houses
and some of them did some small cultivation (though
the plots are small). During the 1990s more people
settled and today this area is a suburb (with a rural
feel, as many people still keep cows and chickens)
with over 35,000 people.
The people who settled in Bathore did so because
there was no employment in the rural areas where
they came from, as the state economic structure of
the communist years suddenly collapsed. They came
to the Tirana area in hopes of jobs. But even today,
more than 50% of the population in this district is
unemployed and some of the families face extreme
hardship.

In the past seven years several hundred children

have been educated at our institution and they are
doing very well in the state-run primary school system. Our school has won a reputation of academic
excellence as a result of this.

To provide high quality, neo-humanist education to
children living in Bathore, Albania at an affordable
price.

of the first kindergarten. The landlord has been using this area for his carpentry equipment, but he is
removing it now and we would like to put in swings,
slides, play equipment and landscaping now. The

Reading Project Barlovento, Venezuela

Project Description
This project is for children and youth to help them

develop an interest in reading and writing and introduce them to the wonderful world of books through
which they will be exposed to fantasies, new ideas,
values etc.
The project started in 2000 when we observed the
weak reading skills of the children and young adults
in the area where the Center is located, specially
of the children in poor rural villages. Since then we
have done a variety of activities related to improving
their reading and writing skills.
Recently the project started to take more shape
thanks to funding received from CENAL (National
Book Center). At the moment the project is being
implemented in 2 villages: la Guairita, 75 families,
and Madre Vieja, 60 families. In each village one
mother has a small library of childrens books lent
to her by the Center. Once a week she goes door
to door, talks to the children and to the adults in
the house who read to their children and have them
choose another book. Every month we do a collective activity with all the children in the village which
include story reading, painting, drama etc.

Mama D feeds the homeless, Los Angeles, CA

Project Description
The food distribution agency in cooperation and
support of organizations and individuals deliver
groceries to 70 to 100 low income families weekly,
also over 100 to 140 Senior citizens and their
families weekly, we supply dry goods, as well as
produce, and add Federal emergency food too
consisting of can foods, grains, juice, frozen fruit,
peanut butter, and dairy.
At the weekend we serve between 80 to a 120
homeless with a Sunday weekly breakfast, consisting of Yoghurt, fruit, snacks, pastries, and warm
Porridge.
We utilize the help of volunteers temporary and
permanent, we have own vehicle to procure food
items, and to deliver.
Food distribution started in the early 80s in association with the LA Food Bank, a new contract
was signed in 2008, extending Amurt participation to two new programs, produce drive through
and the E.F.A.P Emergency Federal assistance
program.
We are committed to help fight hunger in the area
known as Hancock Park, Country club neighborhood of the mid-city area of Los Angeles.
Mission
To give hope and human care to the homeless,
in particular the 500 or so milling individuals on
the 5th and San Pedro streets of the skid row
, by distributing food, clothes, and differentiated
treatment from that of conventional society.
Request
We have derelict storage unsecured shed which
overheats in the summer months and is not insulated for zero temp, and old and small refrigerators
inadequate of our space need, and food standard
safety.
We need a new shed, and industrial refrigerator to
efficiently store and preserve food items at 32F.
The one thousand microdonation would help us
achieve this goal.

AMURT has been able to organize massive food distributions in the affected Delta area! We have so far sent
trucks into the heavily damaged Kungyangon district
three hours South-West of Yangon City. The distributed
parcels with basic food items benefitted the affected
households and the host community of the medium size
town of Twa Chaung.
We approve $1,000 for the Disasters in Asia and
transfer $1,000 to AMURT USA in Washington DC.

requesting funds for the flood relief near Rio de Janeiro.
A microdonation of $1,000 to this project has been approved.

The Foundation donates $1,000 to relief work in the
Philippines.
Over one year has passed since 200 mph winds
wreaked havoc on the coastal belt of East Samar in the
Philippines. AMURTs reconstruction teams, under the
capable leadership of local civil engineers, have built 39
new classrooms and repaired 189 classrooms in 108
schools, making it an important implementing organization in East Samar.

On a recent trip to India I witnessed this scene at the train

station in Pundag. One quite thin lady dressed in orange had
a bag loaded on her head by two men and then she went on
carrying it to the other side of the station. The bag was filled
with coal, really heavy stones and she carried it all alone. That
is the plight of the poor. They work really hard just to survive.
Can we change it? FEA was founded in 2006 and I think we
need to do more but that depends on the involvement of more
