The Energy Efficiency Assistance Program (EEAP) supports and encourages schools and classroom efforts to provide students
and faculty an unbiased, comprehensive overview of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Loveland.
The goals of EEAP:

*Educate and actively engage students in energy conservation projects.

*Promote ideas and outcomes from the students and the teachers perspectives.
*Support the efforts and goals of the participating classroom.
*Provide funding for educational materials, classroom presentations, field trips, energy efficiency products for home and
classroom use, staff time, curriculum assistance and behavioral change incentives. !
!
Requirements:
1. School must be a City of Loveland electric customer.
2. Requires student participation and promotes behavior change.
3. Project must reflect the goals of the Energy Efficiency Assistance Program.
4. Must be able to submit progress on documented and implemented goals.
. Completed application including responses to the questions below must be
submitted by 'FCSVBSZ .
1. Provide a description of your project.
In an effort to increase energy efficiency and provide a more "natural" atmosphere, Mr. Wolverton's science classes would
like to install Solar Tube Sky Lights (http://www.solatube.com) in our cafeteria. The cafeteria is not only used as a dining
location, but also houses a stage used by our choir and band students. It is also a common location for any large
community events and school wide functions. The cafeteria is also the "welcoming space" of our school, it is the first thing
you see when walking through the front doors. The naturally lit environment would be immediately noticeable to all students

4. What are you currently doing at your school to educate students and faculty on energy use in the home or at school?
There are very few efforts in our school that are directed at increasing energy efficency. However, this provides us with a
huge opportunity to make drastic improvements in our Carbon Footprint and energy efficency. !
!
!
5. What behavioral changes, if any, have you implemented to reduce the energy use in your school?
I have turned down my thermostat and keep fans in my room to circulate warm air from the hallway into my classroom. In
the summer, I open my door in the mornings to allow the cool air into my room and close it after noon to keep the hotter air
outside. I also unplug all of the plugs in my classroom at the end of every day. !
!
!
! How widespread is your effort? Are there any other staff members or classrooms that might be involved in this project?
6.
This effort would not only increase the energy efficiency of Conrad Ball Middle School but it would also help provide a more
welcoming environment for students and visitors. Since the sky lights would be placed in the cafeteria, the entire school
would benefit from this upgrade. All students congregate in the cafeteria before school, at lunch, after school, and during
extra curricular activities. This project would benefit the school and the community.!
!
7. What are your goals for this project?
The goals for this project are to reduce the electricity demand of our school and to promote the benefits of making energy
efficient choices. Another goal is to provide more natural lighting in an effort to reduce environmental stress, behavioral
issues, and emotional instability that is associated with compact fluorescent lighting.!
!
!
8. Do you have additional funding for this project?
The project is budgeted to be completed within the $5,000 grant. We do not have any additional funding to sponsor this
project.!
