Humanistic perspective emphasizes that human beings have a free

will which controls our behavior. It emphasizes that we are what we want to
be and our actions are products of our consciousness.
In the case of teenage pre-marital sex, we can clearly see the
significance of free will. Even though we are influenced by many sexual
urges which our imposed by different physical and psychological factors
(from biological to cultural), we are still given the choice for our actions.
The question for you as a teenager is, "Should logic win this one?"
because your body has a desire to reproduce and for it sex is important. Can
you discipline yourself enough to live with the urges and wait until you get
married?, that is the g

Let us take teenage pre-marital sex in the Philippines for example.

Do you know that Southern Leyte ranked 2 nd to Metro Manila with the
highest number of pre-marital sex cases (according to an article by ERNA SY
GORNE on 2006). This record simply shows that pre-marital sex is not
totally governed by the type of environment we have (though others think
that urban cities have higher tendency to premarital-sex due to modern
amenities and cultural factors). In addition, the level of sex hormones of an
individual is higher in late 20s than those in teenage years yet teenagers are
known to have more sexual intercourse than adults 20 years and above. This
emphasizes that teenagers have personal control of themselves even if we are
driven by our biological influence.
Even though we are driven by our physical, emotional, and
psychological needs, the humanistic perspective will always say that a
glorious plane still cannot fly without a pilot.
