Film Assignment: Valkyrie

The movie is set during World War Two in Germany. In the movie all the characters are
Germans, this is important for the fact that the basis of the movie is an assassination attempt on
Adolf Hitler. The individuals plotting and caring out the assassination were by Germans
themselves; Generals, politicians, Professors feeling the Germany Hitler was creating was a
corrupt system. There is a resistance to the idea of a military takeover of the world by Germany.
The main character Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg never thought military use was necessary
idea to have or use. This group of individuals had the idea kill Adolf Hitler that replace the
government to a more peaceful regime. So when Germany as a country did fall from losing the
war there would already have a better government put in to help with reconstruction of Germany
as a country.
Historical points that the movie shows the elites of Germany did not like how Adolf
Hitler was making the Germany into a military state. There were 15 different attempts to kill
Adolf Hitler from not wanting Germany to become a Military state. In the movie it presented in
an ethos view of why the assassination attempts were happening. Claus von Stauffenberg did get
blown up the way he did, which perhaps made him feel that war was a complete negative
interger to society. Stauffenberg came from an affluent family so he saw how government
should be ran from his socioeconomic status.
The resistance to the Hitlers ideology was shown with how individuals had to network to
find who could not stand the Hitler ideology of global takeover. Germany did have out the
beginning of the Third Reich individuals that distained the regime. Those individuals felt how
Adolf Hitler took power was a coup so the same act was deserving upon Hitler. There were

individuals in the Third Reich that felt that war would destroy Germany from within from loss of
life.
In conclusion, to bring it back to what is being learned in class what was happening at
that time period in Germany showed with how Carroll Quigleys evolution of civilizations works
with the Hitlers Reich. Third Reich went through stages three through seven in the way you
view the civilization. When Adolf Hitler did his coup, he made jobs or opportunities to work
happen which is a stage three. Stage four was the Aryan conflict for Hitlers master race, the
regime started to invade and occupy what would be foreign lands geographically. Stage six was
very evident in how Germany was getting to the point where generals in the army wanted to have
Adolf Hitler killed. How the Allies were getting into the interior of Germany to take control.
The movie showed how the generals that executed Operation Valkyrie was showing stage six of
decay.
