Week 11 Tutorial Exercise

Brief (read before tutorial)

Read the dissertation (by one of the last years students) Perceptions
of product placement by movie viewers in the UK and Brazil.
Note that this version of the dissertation is incomplete: it should also have
a title page, table of contents, references and (possibly) appendices. For a
good example of a dissertation that also includes these elements see the
dissertation Recent Graduates Views and Values Concerning Green
Recruitment: A Qualitative Study, also available on MOLE2 (other
documents example dissertations).
Consider the following questions:
1. Does the abstract do a good job of summarising the whole
dissertation?
2. How clear were the objectives of this dissertation?
3. How was the literature review structured? How did this help the
author achieve the objectives of the dissertation?
4. Does the method section give a good justification for the approach,
and a good description of the methods used?
5. How well does the author present the results of the analysis?
6. What conclusions does the author draw? Are these appropriate?
What else might he have included in the discussion?
7. Did you think the dissertation was well written and presented?
8. What mark (out of 100) would you think this dissertation achieved?
