WHAT TYPE OF COUNTRY IS NIGERIA

Nigeria is a Less
Developing country due
to its overpopulation,
somewhat unstable
economy, and lacking
development of
technology.

Located

in the formal region of


Western Africa.
A functional region is Lagos, one
the most populous city in Nigeria,
the second fastest-growing city in
Africa and the seventh in the
world.
A perceptual region is South
Western, Yoruba since Islam
dominated the north and had a
number of supporters.

CLIMATE

Nigeria has a tropical climate


with variable rainy and dry
seasons, depending on
location. It is hot and wet most
of the year in the southeast
but dry in the southwest and
farther inland. A savanna
climate, with marked wet and
dry seasons, prevails in the
north and west, while a steppe
climate with little precipitation
is found in the far north.

RESOURCES

Its forest resources are intensively


exploited, and its tree crops are
harvested on peasant farms and
commercial plantations. All of the
countrys major industrial centres
and oil fields, as well as its seaports
are a main source of income. The
Yoruba-inhabited areas where cacao
is grown are also densely settled
and attract many migrants from the
congested Igbo and Ibibio-inhabited
areas. All of this is mainly located in
the South.

The south is the most economically


developed part of Nigeria which is why
theirs many people and cultures located
there which makes it different from the rest
of Nigeria.

DEMOGRAPHICS
On Monday October 31, Gabriel was born at 12 am
at Gwarinpa General Hospital Abuja which made
Nigeria to stand at 167 million persons.

Death rate: crude (per 1,000 people) in Nigeria
was last measured at 14.33 in 2010, according to
the World Bank.

Despite the global increase in longevity, Nigeria
still has a life expectancy of less than 55 years for
both men and women.
The Gross Domestic Product per capita in Nigeria
was last recorded at 5676.35 US dollars in 2013,
when adjusted by purchasing power parity (PPP).

of primary health facilities with antenatal
clinics in the area;
(5)equipped with portable water and
sustainable power supply.

CULTURAL DOS AND TABOOS

1. Shaking hands is the acceptable


form of greeting. You may find
people bowing to their superiors
and the elderly.

2. Greetings should always include


some interest in your
acquaintances family and health.

3. Women with children, pregnant


women and the elderly should
always get the right of way in public
places or public transportation.

4. Do be not over complimentary of a


person's dress or belongings, he or she
mat feel obligated to give you what you
find attractive. However, be sure to
compliment a dinner or food prepared by
a Nigerian host.

5. The left hand rules apply here. Do not


take or give anything with the left hand.
Do not eat with the left hand.

6. Note that Nigeria is a culturally and


religiously diverse country where tribe
and ethnic affiliation is important. Be
sure to be sensitive to these differences
