Student Learning Outcomes (Goals): Utilizing key words, facts, and details from day fours
lesson on highlighting key details, students will create a Wordle image with the use of their
Chromebooks. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an online poll to
conclude this weeks lesson with the use of their Chromebooks.

Procedure:
1. Have students take out their About Sharks handout: About Sharks Handout
2. Pass out Chromebooks to the students and guide them with turning them on and
how to get to the internet home page.
3. Discuss with the students what a Wordle is. A description of a wordle can be

4. Demonstrate on the SmartBoard, how to type in a web address in the browser
bar. Guide students to the following website: http://www.wordle.net/
5. Show students an example of a Wordle. An example of a wordle image can be
found here: Wordle Example . The Wordles that the students create will not be
in the shape of a shark, like the example portrays.
6. Guide students to the create page on Wordle.net. Show them how to type in
the words, facts, and important details from the About Sharks handout, in
order to create the Wordle image.
7. Have students begin working individually to type in words on their
Chromebooks.
8. Circulate the classroom to make sure students are doing this activity correctly
and to assist as necessary.
