The ICT that are used throughout our lesson plan are:

Book Creator
We chose BookCreator as it allows students to create their own book simply and
easily. In this instance we are using it to create a record of the experiment. This
will allow students to be able to see the results of their experiment clearly and be
able to share it with other students to allow comparisons of results. As opposed
to traditional forms of recording the experiment, using BookCreator will allow
students to embed the video of the experiment itself, allowing for future
analysis.

Mind Map from Spider Scribe http://www.spiderscribe.net/

There are many online Mind Mapping tools available, for our lessons we have
chosen Spider Scribe as it will allow the whole class to contribute to one topic.
Spider Scribe will generate a diagram to visually organise information on a topic
(in this instance Gravity), generated by the information supplied by the students.

iMovie
iMovie has so many creative uses and can be used across the curriculum. It is
easy and intuitive to use so students will require little instruction, meaning
minimal time will be taken explaining its use. In this instance we are using iMovie
to record our experiment so that we will be able to analyse the footage and use
this to calculate the force of gravity acting on an object.

Video from http://splash.abc.net.au/media/-/m/30447.

We have chosen to use a video as a method of delivering information to students
as it is engaging and entertaining, covering a lot of material in a short space of
time. The video is covering the human aspects of gravity in the work of Galileo
and Newton and is background knowledge to the subject.

Wordle http://www.wordle.net/
Wordle allows students to generate a word cloud on a subject, in this instance
gravity. This is a visual representation of the data provided by the students. The
more times a word is used the bigger it will appear in the word cloud, this will
allow the teacher to easily see which aspects of the topic students are engaging
with the most and which aspects need more focus.

Gravity and the Solar System

gravity_solar_system/index.html
This is an online app that briefly covers the concept of how gravity works in the
solar system. We have chosen this app as it has a video that students are able to
move through at their own pace and review if they are having difficulty with the
concept. At the end the app has a short quiz to test the students understanding.
The students are then able to review any section of the video if they find they
have gotten any of the questions wrong.

Online quiz using www.socrative.com

We have chosen to create an online quiz using Socrative to conclude the unit on
gravity so that we are able to check that students have a firm grasp of the
concept. We are able to address any problems that students have with the topic
following the result of the quiz. Using a tool like Socrative has the advantage
over traditional forms of assessment in that the teacher does not have to
individually check each quiz (as they are automatically graded) and that the
results are easy to analyse. Online tools such as Socrative also have the
advantage of allowing multimedia files to be included as part of the quiz so that
students may be asked to analyse footage of an experiment as part of the quiz.
