Artificial Propagation

Artificial propagation is a process of creating a new plant with different kind of techniques.
There are four main types of the artificial propagation. They are Cutting, Layering, Grafting, and
Tissue culture. Cutting is like when you place parts of a stem containing nodes or internodes in water or moist soil to produce new plant. Layering is a method of plant propagation in which a bent
stem is covered with soil in order to generate new root. Grafting is a process of attaching part of a
stem from one plant onto the root of another plant. Last, tissue culture is a practice of rapidly multiplying plant material to produce a large number of progeny plants using plant tissue culture method.
Tissue culture can also be known as micropropagation. There are two main type of artificial propagation that I am going to be discussing about, its Cutting and tissue culture.
First discussing about Cutting, it is a really common technique that is used in daily lives. It
is a very used technique. Many plants bare frequently propagated by cuttings. A cutting is a vegetative plant part which is severed from the parent plant in order to regenerate itself, thereby forming a
whole new plant. Take cuttings with a sharp blade to reduce injury to the parent plant. The way cutting is done is that you start by take a share blade to reduce injury to plants. Dip the cutting tool in
rubbing alcohol or a mixture of one part bleach to nine parts water to prevent transmitting diseases
from infected plant parts to healthy ones. Remove flowers and flower buds to allow the cutting to
use its energy and stored carbohydrates for root and shoot formation rather than fruit and seed production. With large-leaved cuttings and limited space in the propagation container, trimming up to
half the leaf length can improve efficiency, as well as light and air circulation for all the cuttings. To
hasten rooting, increase the number of roots, or to obtain uniform rooting, use a rooting hormone,

preferably one containing a fungicide. Prevent possible contamination of the entire supply of rooting hormone by putting some hormone in a separate container for dipping cuttings. Discard this
hormone after all the cuttings are treated.(Mastergardenproducts) Root cutting can be kept in the
dark until new roots appear. There are also types of cutting, there are stem cutting, tip cutting, medial cuttings, and cane cutting. I will focus on stem cutting. Most of stem cutting can be taken
throughout summer and fall. And stem cutting is a good thing, it solve the problems on reproducing
plants, they cut things and then they are able to produce new plants.
Tissue culture or also something called tissue culture is a method of propagation. They
mother can propagate a large number of plants from a single plant in a short time under laboratory
conditions. This method allows propagation of rare, endangered species that may be difficult to
grow under natural conditions. To start the process tissue culture, a part of the plants such as a stem,
leaf, embryo, anther or seed can be used. the plant needs to be sterilised using combinations of
chemical. Then Under sterile conditions, the plant material is placed on a plant tissue culture medium that contains all the minerals, vitamins, and hormones required by the plant. The plant part often
gives rise to an undifferentiated mass, known as a callus, from which, after a period of time, individual plantlets begin to grow.
They both are really affective techniques of reproducing plants and a good one to do because it does better and faster. So overall, those two techniques are good and can solve some reproducing problems better.
