This is a film about Tom and Maddy by Dylan Stephen Levers

This is a film about Tom and Maddy uses many different camera
angles to portray the relationship between the two main characters
and their feelings towards each other. At the begging of the film a
close up shot shows the couple
looking awkward laying bed together
and the lack of eye contact is
emphasised by this type of shot. The
couple are then filmed with a
medium shot lying awkwardly next
to each other. When the camera
shows Tom at his laptop with his
headphones in Maddy is in the background, she is slightly blurred
which can reflect he unimportance and how she feels invisible to
her partner. Close ups are also
used on Maddy at the
beginning of the film when
they are in bed. Maddy is
awake perhaps showing that
her mind is full of unanswered
questions she feels the need
to
ask Tom. The close up shot is
effective in this scene as it
concentrates on Maddys feelings and emotions, which is that the
director wants the audience to feel and see. This close up shot
focuses on her facial expressions, which takes up the mind of the
character.
Non diegetic music is played in a scene where Maddy is alone in a
room. The music is classical which can be interpreted to reflect her
personality showing how different her and Tom are and foreshadow
how they are becoming
distant. Voice overs are
also used in this film these
are Maddys thought that
she feels cannot be shared
with Tom. The sound of
bridal music is contrapuntal
in the break up scene
mirroring their
dysfunctional relationship.
The dull colours reflect the couples mood, colours like grey and
black and linked with bad moods this is why I think the characters
were dressed like this as their relationship isnt happy. The setting

and the props are also dull, the house is empty and doesnt look
lived in again mirroring the couples empty relationship. Slow edits
are used throughout, the pace never quickens this is because the
story is straight forward and I think
it makes it easier for the audience
to understand and follow. The edits
of the images flicking through with
the voiceover of Maddy shows that
she is the main person in the
relationship and Tom doesnt care
as much as she does.
