WORK EXPERIENCE
Caterpillar Inc., Sanford, NC
Manufacturing Engineer (Contract) (April 2011 Present)
Working on New Product Introduction project to introduce new machines with Tier 4 requirements to the existing assembly line.
The new processes result in an annual labor savings of $3M. The responsibilities include:

Developing sequence of assembly operations (product routings) and standardized work for 22 product models.
Integrating new product assemblies with existing production.
Determining tooling and equipment requirements and developing new fixtures to ease manufacturing.
Determining headcount requirements for the new production lines.
Providing inputs to modify product design for ease of assembly (DFA).
Evaluating packaging to meet production requirements.
Applying PFMEA to new assembly processes and determining action items for assembly improvements.
Leading process improvement activities to reduce cycle time and manpower requirements.
Reviewing Engineering change orders (ECO) to determine manufacturability and implementing it.
Initiating Engineering change requests to update engineering drawing as needed to improve product quality.
Working with contract manufacturers to develop tooling solutions.
Supervising assembly operations during product trial runs and launch.

Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances, New Bern, NC

Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Feb 2010 Feb 2011)
Worked on a factory transformation project to develop scalable assembly lines to accommodate production escalations based on
market demand which resulted in an estimated cost savings of $12.6M per year and 15% free floor space for future expansions.
The tasks performed are given below:

Modified sub-assembly layouts with better space utilization, material flow and ergonomic material presentation while
improving worker efficiency.

Developed Process Flow Diagrams using MS Visio for product assembly and documented standard operating procedures
and work instructions.
Developed flexible manpower assembly cell layouts with single piece flow for 3 product models using AutoCAD.
Applied 5S methodology to the new workplace and developed color coding to accommodate mixed models for better
visual presentation.
Reduced Cycle time by 56% by analyzing the existing assembly methods and reorganizing workflow and workstations.
Assisted in time study analysis for line balancing activities to eliminate bottlenecks.
Mapped the current state value stream (VSM) for 3 products and anticipated the future state at the end of the
improvement project.

Automotive Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India

Manufacturing Engineer (Sept 2007 - May 2008)

Assisted during design and development of Semi-trailer to ensure manufacturability of the product.
Developed Bill of materials (BOM), manufacturing processes and sequence of operations to fabricate the final product.
Purchased welding equipments, tools and safety equipments required during product builds.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mumbai, India

Engineering Intern (July 2006 Dec 2006)

Designed and implemented assembly fixtures for circuit breaker products.

GRADUATE PROJECTS
Redesigned toaster by reducing 22% parts for ease of assembly using DFA principles.
Managed the manufacturing operations such as production planning, MPS, MRP, capacity planning and shop floor scheduling
for an abstract company and made various strategic decisions.
Created a database in MS Access using SQL to ease the management of information on various projects.
