Bryan Police Respond to Altercation at Bryan High


On January 15, 2010 at 8:00am, the Bryan Police Department and the Bryan Fire
Department responded to a report of a stabbing at Bryan High School, located at
3401 East 29th Street. Officers arrived at the school and secured the scene and
began the preliminary investigation. The Bryan Fire Department responded and
transported one juvenile female victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The incident occurred at the bus loading and unloading area before the start of the
school. The incident did not take place within the school building. This was an
isolated incident and only involved two juveniles who had known each other
previously. The incident quickly escalated and concluded with an Aggravated
Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division responded to assist in the


investigation. The juvenile suspect was contacted at Rudder High School and taken
in police custody. The suspect is currently at the Juvenile Detention Center on a
charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The juvenile victim was
transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and
released. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is a First Degree Felony which is


punishable with a confinement from 5 to 99 years or life in prison; and an optional
fine not to exceed $10,000.

The Bryan Police Department would like to acknowledge members of the Bryan
Independent School District who responded to this incident and thank them for their
assistance. Their assistance facilitated the rapid conclusion to this unfortunate
event.
