Daily Review (identify instructional standard/indicator):

Concept/Skill Development (including 3+ high level questions) & (identify instructional standard/indicator):
TE #1: Planning and Prewriting: Whole class reading of the prompts. Direct students to choose the prompt they
feel most comfortable writing. (5 min)
Review the rubric with the students before they begin writing. Inform them the points each criteria will be
worth. They will write down the total points for each criteria. (10 min)

Practice & Application (Guided/Independent/Group Practice) (identify instructional standard/indicator):
1. Students will create a brief outline of the supporting details and commentary they will write for their Embedded
Assessment. (15 min)
2. After completing their half sheet outline, students will draft their embedded assessment. Their rough drafts are
due before they leave class. (45 min) Small group of students who are having a difficult time will be pulled
aside to receive extra help.
Assessment (Formative - include Homework - & Summative) (identify instructional standard/indicator):
Completion of the Embedded Assessment. Students will be graded on the rubric given on page126 (Standards, Ideas,
and Use of Language).
