Anecdote:
When my daughter was in 7th grade, she played
for West Chester United Soccers travel team.
At the last minute, the coach signed up for the
Gettysburg tournament. Of course, there were
no hotel rooms in a hundred mile radius, and
her team had an 8AM Saturday game. Racing
towards the game, we almost slammed into a
long line of traffic there was construction on
Route 30, the road that led us to the field!
Luckily, we had a map in the car. Unluckily, my
daughter couldnt read it.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Sometimes we want to take the road less
traveled, and sometimes we just want to
get someplace on time!

Question:
When was the last time you were lost?
Were you feeling a little tense at the
time?

Bud, Not Buddy is one of the

best books Ive ever read! You
should put it on the summer
reading list because of the
fascinating characters and the
writers style.

This summer, I visited Flint, Michigan. I

actually traveled back in time to the year 1932
and experienced what it was like to be poor,
homeless, and living during the Depression.
The best part of my traveling was that I
experienced it while sitting on the beach in
Avalon, New Jersey. While there, I read the
book Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul
Curtis. In the novel, Bud, an orphan, searches
for his family during the Depression. Because
of Curtiss style of writing and his fascinating
characters, Bud, Not Buddy should be on the
seventh grade summer reading list.

You know Dash and Dance and Prance and Saunter,

Shuffle and Slither and Stumble and Wander, but do you recall
The most famous verb of all..
To Be the puzzling verb
Its the most irregular
And if you get to know it
You will see it here and there
Unlike those other verbs
Be is hard to con- ju- gate
But if you learn its tenses
Through this class youll surely skate
Am, is, are, was, were, be, been
Theyre the forms to know
If you conjugate these right
Your grammar skills are out of sight
Then all your teachersll love you
They will shout out with glee,
You are the perfect students
You know how to use To Be!
