ABSTRACT
This paper aims at exploring new methods used in teaching Generation Y
in classrooms. The present generation has grown up with a lot of new
technological advancements. These technical devices have set a
challenging environment for the learners. The teacher also equally faces
similar challenges and has to equip themselves in order to cope with the
prevailing trend. The advent of cell phone poses challenges in learning
that need immediate attention. The short message service in cell phones
facilitates the users, the learners in this case, to communicate faster and
easier. But it subverts the spelling knowledge of the younger generation.
The paper is an attempt to delve into a few problems inadvertently faced
by the learners and the probable solutions to restrict such usage. The
teacher in the classroom could wean the learners off such practices which
would help the learners enhance their knowledge.
