As a King

Matthew 24,

God announces a King who is humble

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout {in triumph,} O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and
mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey

When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of
Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a
donkey tied {there} and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.
"If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and
immediately he will send them."
This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

"I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a
Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented
before Him.
"And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations
and {men of every} language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.

"SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, 'BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE,
AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.' "
The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,
and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the
coats.
Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches
from the trees and spreading them in the road.
The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, "Hosanna to
the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in
the highest!"

Behold, a day is coming for the LORD when the spoil taken from you will be divided
among you.
For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be
captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but
the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.
Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day
of battle.
In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on
the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very
large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half
toward the south.

Jesus announces He will return from the sky

Mat
24:3

As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,
"Tell us, when will these things happen, and what {will be} the sign of Your coming,
and of the end of the age?"
And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you.

"And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of
the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF
THE SKY with power and great glory.

I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It
is melted within me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You
lay me in the dust of death.
For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced
my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;

They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.
But You, O LORD, be not far off; O You my help, hasten to my assistance.
Deliver my soul from the sword, My only {life} from the power of the dog.
Save me from the lion's mouth; From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.
I will tell of Your name to my brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
You who fear the LORD, praise Him; All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And
stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.
For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He
hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
Jesus declares that He is the Suffering Servant who was crucified
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA
SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"
