Level

Forearm Pass: The student attempts to contact the ball.

Overhead Pass: The student attempts to contact the ball.
The student does not know when to forearm/overhead pass.

Serve: The student is able to serve the ball over the net from the first green line.
Game Play: The student attempts to contact the ball.
The student does not know the positions on the court.
Forearm Pass: The student is able to contact the ball.
Overhead Pass: The student is able to contact the ball.
The student demonstrates understanding of when to forearm/overhead pass, but does not
make the decision quickly to return a pass and/ or does not do it.

Serve: The student is able to serve the ball over the net from the attack line (white line).
Game Play: The student participates in game play with limited effectiveness due to lack of
control in receiving and passing the ball.
The student needs to be reminded of their position on the court.
Forearm Pass: The student is able to pass the ball to a designated target sometime.
Overhead Pass: The student is able to pass the ball to a designated target sometime.
The student demonstrates understanding of when to perform a forearm/ overhead pass and
does it.

Serve: The student is able to serve the ball over the net from the red line.
Game Play: The student participates in game play somewhat effectively. (Is able to pass the
ball to teammates or over the net sometime- with one bounce)
The student demonstrates basic understanding of positioning on the court.
Forearm Pass: The student is able to pass the ball with control to a designated target by:
contacting the ball with their forearm, bending their knees, and getting under the ball.
Overhead Pass: The student is able to pass the ball with control to a designated target by:
contacting the ball with fingertips only, having their hand in a diamond shape, bending their knees,
and getting under the ball.
The student demonstrates understanding of when to perform a forearm/ overhead pass and
does it. The pass is with control to a designated target.
Serve: The student is able to serve the ball over the net from the back court green line and/or
service line.
Game Play: The student participates in game play effectively. (Is able to pass the ball with

control to teammates or over the net without the ball bouncing)

The student demonstrates understanding of positioning on the court and how to rotate.
