To be word processed and include the module code, the module name, the names of students in the group, their IDs, the title of the experiment, the date submitted 2. The contents of the report: IntroductionBrief on theory behind the experiment, on the methodology, practical applications if any Apparatus: A complete description along with the purpose of the main parts, a labelled figure Experiment The objectives to be stated The full description of the procedure to carry out the experiments If there are different parts, these should be numbered Readings, measurements and observations to be properly recorded in appropriate tables Precautions taken for the proper conduct of the experiment should be clearly stated Calculations and Results These must be clearly shown from equations/ formulae used, along with the notations and units Sample calculations to be included and graphs, if any, drawn. Observations and conclusions To state whether in general the experiment did verify the theory The sources of error in setting up the apparatus/experiment Any shortcomings in the design of the apparatus, any improvement in the experimental method 3. Additional notes: The contents of the report to be handwritten.Graphs may ,however, be produced from softwares. The readings, measurements, observations submitted in draft form at the time of carrying out the experiments are the ones to be strictly used. Departure from this will entail rejection of the report. The reports are to be submitted in the Applied Mechanics Lab during normal working hours and at latest on the 23rd December 2014. Only the names of students in each group who have contributed in writing the report should appear on the front cover. Reports have to be submitted for all experiments carried out. If the earlier reports already submitted are not along the above guidelines, they will have to be rewritten and resubmitted.
