Certainly, my philosophy of education has changed greatly from my Intro into Education

class until now. A part of me is so embarrassed concerning what I believed was the best way for
children to learn. I once believed that students had the ability to learn regardless of their
teachers assistance. Now I believe that students need an effective teacher, who uses scaffolding
and explicit teaching in order for them to learn. I have acquired, and gained so much knowledge
in the Education program at Dixie State University. I have learned much about which teaching
strategies work best with students. Also, I have learned a lot about myself as an educator. I am a
teacher who truly cares about each child who enters my classroom. I am firm in my classroom
management, yet I believe that learning should be a social experience. I believe strongly in
Vygotskys theory that children learn best through social interactions between adults and their
peers. I also believe in Howard Gardeners theory of multiple intelligences. I want to teach my
students using different styles of learning. I want to create an environment in my classroom that
encourages my students to think outside of the box. Mainly, I want to ignite a passion for
learning into each of my students, which they can carry with them throughout their lives.
Because of my background in Early Childhood, I believe that children learn best through handson experiences. I want to incorporate this belief into my lessons as much as possible. I do not
believe that students learn simply through worksheets, or reading text in a book. I believe that
students need a teacher who brings the concepts to life, through multiple materials. Through this
program I have been taught which materials can strengthen lessons, and better help students
succeed. Theorist like Vygotsky, Paiget, and Gardner will have a major influence in my
classroom. Mainly, my goal and promise as a future teacher is to help every student who enters
my classroom feel loved and gain a desire for learning.
