group challenges in an outdoor environment. (Learning things needed
for camping and how to find these things)

LESSON OBJECTIVES: (TLW)
Cognitive:
TLW will develop a plan of action when faced with an individual challenge and cooperate to solving a
group challenge.
Affective:
TLW will exhibit responsible personal and group behavior and cooperate with classmates.
Psychomotor:
TLW will be able to hike with classmates to achieve group challenge and will use correct technique at least
80% of the time for basic skills needed to achieve personal challenge.

outdoor activities to achieve my personal challenge at least at a 80% success rate.
ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION:
Cognitive:
Students should know what are the basic needs for camping and why these are needs. Check for this at
closure and emphasize on the why.
Affective:
Ask students what skills are needed for this and how can camping be useful to improve their long term
healthy lifestyle goal.
Psychomotor:
Each group will be able to evaluate their personal challenge in order for group challenge to be achieved.
Ask students the importance of all working together rather than everyone working for themselves in
camping.

ACCOMODATIONS:
For students who are physically disabled they can fully participate in all activities and partner can carry
backpack for any team they are assigned to.

MODIFICATIONS:
To increase difficulty: Distance between objects can be increased which will make trail longer with same
amount of time.
To decrease difficulty: Distance between objects can be decreased which will make trail shorter.

Also time can be increased

Anticipatory Set:
Does anyone know how many State parks with hiking trails
and camping sites we have here in Louisiana?

There is a reason we are known as Sportsmans Paradise! It is
something we have to take advantage of!
Transition
Today we are going to go on our own hike and camping site
here at Tiger State Park!
Instant Activity Instruction:
Before we begin our hike to our camping site we need to
discuss the things that we will need to find before we reach
our camping site and come up with a plan that distributes
responsibility.

responsibilities (making teams of Guides, Water, Food, Fire,
and Time Keepers).

Students will discuss the needs and distribute responsibilities.
(Equipment will be set out with notecards detailing instruction
of each responsibility)

Now that we have our responsibilities distributed we have to
have a plan.

Skill Instruction:
We will soon set out to Tiger park and get on our way to our
camping site. But first we need a plan. We have our needs
listed out but now we need a hiking plan.

We have our teams and have a plan we are ready to set out.
There is one last catch! You will only have 25 min to get all
these needs and make it to the camping site before it is dark!
