Gun Control:

The Second Amendment and the US Constitution was ratified in 1791, and as a result to
the Revolutionary War, without access to weapons, colonists wouldnt have been able to defeat
the British troops. Another things that the Second Amendment states is that people of the United
States have that to keep and bear arms without being infringed.
In 1871, One hundred years after the ratification of the Second Amendment, the NRA
was founded by two union officers who had wished to promote rifle shooting. And the NRA has
since become one of the biggest and the most powerful non-governmental organizations in the
country and it protects the fireman rights and hunting and it promotes as a sport, and it sponsors
the educational programs on firearm safety. September 11th 2001 would have never happened
and thousands of people wouldnt have lost their lives if they had the right to prevent this from
happening and thousands of people wouldnt have died and this where Gun Control comes in if
people that were on the plane that day and if they had some type of gun protection September
11th 2001 would have never happened and thousands of people would have lived that day, the
terrorists that were on the plane that day had weapons to protect them but the passengers that
were on the plane didnt have any kind of protection to protect them and thats why thousands of
people lost the lives that day.
The District of Columbia vs. Heller in 2008, the United States Supreme Court had
addressed the matter and found that individuals has the right to bear arms and that it was
protected by the Second Amendment and I totally agree with this. There have been a lot of
shootings that have occurred throughout the United States there was a shooting at a movie
theater in Aurora, Colorado, at a mall outside of Portland, and at an elementary school in
Newtown, Connecticut where there was 20 first-grade students, and six teachers that were shot

by a former student that went to the exact and I think when this situation occurred people are
taking gun control more serious now because they dont want situations to happen like this ever
again. In my opinion Im totally pro for gun control because I want to protect myself from bad
people in the world if it was me I would totally keep a gun in my house to protect me incase if
my house got robbed or something. I think everyone needs to protect themselves in some sort of
way even if that means having a gun of your own.
And there is a center that prevents gun violence and its called The Brady Center to
Prevent Gun Violence, and its named after Jim Brady and its the largest grassroots organization
working to promote the gun control legislation and they were both passed in 1994 and this
became a focal point for a gun control debate. With that being said I think gun control should
become legal in the United States because every person in America has the right to protect
themselves and has the right to keep a gun to protect them if a bad situation occurred. No one
should lose their life because of people take advantage of having a gun or carrying one if youre
going to have a gun use it the proper way or in case of a situation to where you need a gun and if
youre going to have a gun always keep it away from your children to where they cant get to it.
The 2nd Amendment hasnt really changed its pretty much saying that individuals have
the right to bear arms, and the Court had held that the 2nd Amendment applied that only to the
federal government and did not prohibit the states governments from regulating the individuals
ownership or use of guns.
And the court had upheld a federal gun control law, and the National Firearms Act in
1934 and this law required taxation and registration of sawed-off shotguns and automatic
weapons. At present, state governments are not prohibited by the 2nd Amendment from enacting
gun control laws. And Legal issues about these laws have been left to the state legislations and

state courts to decide. And the state courts have tended to uphold local ordinances and state laws
to regulate or control ownership of guns.
I am all for pro-gun control because I think each individual has the right to protect
themselves and I think each individual has the right to keep a gun or concealed weapon with
them to protect them and if was me I would totally keep a gun with me to protect me. And thats
pretty much what the Second Amendment is talking about is that individual has the right to bear
arms and I think that individuals should have the right to bear arms.
Over the next thirty years most states adopted various forms of the National Revolver
Act, a law largely drafted by the National Rifle Association. And it established a permit system
to regulate from carrying concealed weapons. And in the late 1930s federal controls were
imposed on machine guns, sawed-off guns, and other dangerous devices by the National
Firearms acts.
And approximately half of the families in the United States own a gun, it estimates on the
number in the country range from 60 million up to 200 million. And about one American in
twenty (7.5 million) carries a gun for self-protection, this really surprised me when I saw this that
there are so many people who carry a gun for self-protection I would do the exact same thing,
people out there out really do take serious measures to protect themselves and I think they should
take serious measures on protecting themselves.
