Math: 5.NS.6: Understand, interpret, and model percents a part of a hundred.


Language Arts/Reading: 5.RL.2.2: Determine a theme of a story, play, or poem from details in
the text, including how characters respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem reflects
upon a topic; summarize the text.
Social Studies: 5.2.10: Use a variety of information resources to identify and evaluate
contemporary issues that involve civic responsibility, individual rights and the common good.
Science: The Nature of Science: Students gain scientific knowledge by observing the natural and
constructed world, performing and evaluating investigations, and communicating their findings.
The following principles should guide student work and be integrated into the curriculum along
with the content standards on a daily basis.
Music: 5.2.1: Play melodic, rhythmic, and chordal patterns by rote and by reading.
Art: 5.6.3: Create symbols, metaphors, and subject matter for artwork and utilize ideas from
other works.
Blooms Verbs/Objectives
Math: Classify, differentiate, and construct: Students can have numbers of animals of different
types, and they can create a pie chart using percentages.
Language Arts/Reading: Examine, discuss, and write: Students can read and comprehend the
story before writing a response letter.
Social Studies: Examine, question, and argue: Students are able to understand and analyze the
map while also discussing or arguing for what kind of changes can be made by the people to help
preserve the environment.
Science: Design, assemble, test, solve, and report: Students are able to conduct an experiment
while understanding the different variables over a period of time, then analyzing the aftermath of
their actions on the plants. They can come up with a solid solution.
Music: Choose, design, and demonstrate: Students are able to think of sounds that come from
nature and attempt to recreate those using instruments they believe to be fit.
Art: Recall, duplicate, and create: Students are able to remember the style of pictures seen in the
book and create their own version of the pictures.
