Domain 1Planning & Preparation

SMART Goal: By December 2014, I will prepare to teach Accounting I by attending an
accounting teaching conference, collaborating with my co-worker, and researching the
curriculum.
Rationale (Why did you choose this goal?): I chose this goal because this school year I will be
teaching Accounting I for the first time in my teaching career. Im excited for the new
challenge, but Im a little nervous as I havent taken an accounting class since my sophomore
year in college. Id like to try to get as prepared as possible during the first semester of the year
for teaching the class second semester.
Time Line (How long will you focus on this goal?): I will work on this goal from September through
December and attend an accounting conference by December.
Instructional Strategies (What methods or interventions will you use to achieve the goal?):
I will research accounting conferences in the Wisconsin area.
I will attend one accounting conference.
I will collect teaching materials and sample activities at the accounting conference I attend.
I will collaborate with my co-worker who has taught Accounting I in the past to get ideas,
strategies, and curriculum for teaching the class.
I will look over the Accounting I textbook and curriculum and ask my co-worker questions.
Evidence/Artifact (How will you measure the outcome of your goal?):

Domain 2The Classroom Environment
SMART Goal: By December 2014, I will develop a class website for my Personal Finance class
which will include all notes and activities.
Rationale (Why did you choose this goal?): I chose this goal because I thought having all my
course materials in one spot and easily accessible would help organize both me and my
students throughout the Personal Finance course. In the past, Ive noticed that students
occasionally lose notes, activity sheets, etc.. When this happened, I would have to try to find
another copy so the student could complete the work. I believe students need to be
responsible for their own class materials, so making the course materials available on the website
will force students to obtain their own new copy. This will also help students who have been
absent from class. I will also survey students to find out what they think would be helpful on the
website.
Time Line (How long will you focus on this goal?): I will design the website throughout 1st quarter
and fully implement the website during 2nd quarter of the 2014-2015 school year.

Instructional Strategies (What methods or interventions will you use to achieve the goal?):
I will conduct a pre- and post-survey with my students to determine what theyd like on our class
website.
I will research effective classroom website strategies.
I will assess student responses to determine what students need and want on the class website.
I will use weebly.com to design a class website.
I will update the class website throughout the term with up-to-date Personal Finance curriculum.
Evidence/Artifact (How will you measure the outcome of your goal?):

Domain 3Classroom Instruction
SMART Goal: By December 2104, I will develop a differentiated Google simulation project for
Computer Apps with a menu board of choices and point options.
Rationale (Why did you choose this goal?): In Computer Applications, we started having our
students work more with Google Drive, Docs, and Apps (rather than just Microsoft products). We
would like to design some sort of culminating project for students to work on to show us what
theyve learned throughout the term. While developing this project, Id like to allow students
some freedom to choose what theyd like to work on.
Time Line (How long will you focus on this goal?): I will work on this goal in September and
October (so its prepared for students for the final week of 1st quarter).
Instructional Strategies (What methods or interventions will you use to achieve the goal?):
I will research examples of differentiated choice/menu board assignments.
I will consult the Wisconsin Business Education listserv and the internet to find examples of other
Google projects that have been developed.
I will collaborate with my co-worker to develop the Google simulation.
I will design a project rubric to assist in grading the Google simulation.
Evidence/Artifact (How will you measure the outcome of your goal?):
Final draft of project
Final draft of project rubric

Domain 4Professional Responsibilities

SMART Goal: By December 2014, I will join and serve on the Holmen High School PBIS committee.
Rationale (Why did you choose this goal?): I chose this goal because Id like to reach out and
help in my school beyond my teaching assignment. I like the idea behind PBIS and believe its
important for students to be honored and recognized for doing positive things within the school.
Time Line (How long will you focus on this goal?): I will join the PBIS team in September and
continue my involvement throughout the school year and beyond.
Instructional Strategies (What methods or interventions will you use to achieve the goal?):
I will contact the PBIS committee chair to inquire about meeting times, dates, etc..
I will attend all PBIS meetings when they dont conflict with a prior commitment.
I will work on at least one PBIS-related project.
Evidence/Artifact (How will you measure the outcome of your goal?):
Copies of meeting minutes
