Boxer, one of the most loyal animals
on Animal Farm. He always went above

to work hard, to the point where he is too
weak to go on. Two pigeons see him
collapsed on the ground and come with the
news saying, "Boxer has fallen. He is lying
on his side and can't get up!"(119) Turns
out, comrades, his lung has weakened. Even
with Clover's help, Boxer wasn't able to
recover well enough. Napoleon then claims
to have ordered a vehicle to come and take
Boxer to the hospital. Lies. Everything is a
lie.

Benjamin being there when the van came, he

was able to read what was written on there.
It read, "Alfred Simmonds, Horse
Slaughterer and Glue Boiler, Willingdon.
Dealer in Hides and Bone-Meal. Kennels
Supplied."(122) Benjamin quickly realized
what was happening and came to warn his
fellow comrades about it. Once the animals
realized what was going on, they too began
to yell to tell Boxer to come out. Boxer was
too weak to come or he didn't realize what
was happening. The van drove off with
Boxer in it and was never to return again.
Three days after this incident, Squealer
comes to tell the animals about Boxer's last
hours. Squealer was able to make everything
that happened, sound true. However, nothing
Squealer says is to be trusted. The truth can
