Delete deleting a letter starting at the beginning of
the word instead of the back
Template - a layout for you to use to help organize
your work in a specific style

Placeholder Text faded words that show where your

Alignment the positions of all the lines in the
document in relation to the margins

Sans Serif a style of fonts (ex. Arial, etc.)
Script a style of font, in cursive (ex. Script MT Bold,
Pristina, etc)
Baseline - the imaginary line that the text sits on

Superscript a number or letter that appears slightly


above the text line (ex. X2)
Subscript a number or letter that appears slightly
below the text line (ex. X2)
Hanging Indent an indentation in the paragraph
format that indents all lines except for the first
Format Painter a tool that helps you apply the
features of one group of text to as many other as you
want just by clicking it
Margin the border around the text, where the text
will start and stop on all four sides of the page
Drag and Drop clicking on one item and dragging it
into another spot
Outline View an easy way to format your text into a
multi-level list
Promote (within your outline) Move your text up to
a larger place ( from heading to title)
Demote (within your outline) move your text down
to a smaller place (from heading to body)
Thesaurus of book of many groups of words that are
all synonyms or related
Page Break determine where to start a new page at
any point in the document
Section Break to end the section and continue the
document in a new section

Header the space at the top of the page for things


such as your name, page numbers, etc.
Footer the space at the bottom of your page for
things such as pages numbers, initials, important
information etc.
Footnote a note at the bottom of the page,
referencing a piece of text in the document
Endnote a small note printed at the end of a
document
Portrait Page Orientation default format, longer
side of the page is vertical
Landscape Page Orientation the longer side of the
page is horizontal
Column Gutter the white space in between columns
