In English we get off pretty easy when it comes to number and gender. We have the
and thats it!
In Spanish, they have much more flexibility. because all nouns have a gender (masculine
or feminine) and a number (singular or plural). To show number and/or gender, we
use Spanish definite articles that mean the same thing as the but convey more
information.
Here they are: el, la, los, and las.
El is used with masculine singular nouns, la with feminine singular, los for masculine
plural and las for feminine plural.
