Professional Growth Plan

Name: Kimberly Wilson

School:
Practicum Dates: October 3, 2014 - December 9, 2014
Teacher Associate:
University Consultant:
1. Goal: To integrate technology seamlessly into my lesson plans to engage and enrich student learning.
(KSA #10)
Rational: Many students that I have this semester will already have multiple exposure to different forms of
technology. If I can then integrate technology into my lesson plans then it might help to interest students
however, it should not be the main focus. There are also many good resources available for teachers to use
through technology.
Grade: 3
Subject Area: All
Time: All my lessons can integrate technology, and by end of practicum (December 9) it will be seemly.
Resources Needed:
Take note and pay attention in technology integration class.
Research learning technology tools (and consult the library).
Talk and consult with peers and teachers.
Reflection book of how well particular technologies works.
Indicators of Success:
Technology has been embedded into my lesson plans
By observation of students. Are they engaged with the material or just the technology (has the
technology completely taken away from what we are learning).
Was goal achieved?
Once I was in the classroom, it was much easier to use technology during my lesson, primarily the SMART
board. As the students were use to using it, it made it easy to let it flow into my lesson to demonstrate
something through a video or use it to write on. For labeling in science, it made it easy to write on the diagram
and give students an opportunity to make a mistake and easily and cleanly fix it. I also learned in my practicum
a different way to give test. It is ran through the SMART board and each student has a controlling that will link
them to their answer through an ID number. It is called Scenteo. After watching how it works this is something
that I would be interested in using in my classrooms. In general I think that this goal was achieved but will
constantly need to work as technology continues to change.

2. Goal: To seamlessly incorporate 2-3 different teaching techniques in my lesson plans to adhere to
different learning styles. That is to incorporate techniques into my lesson plans that will resonate with
either verbal, logical, visual, musical or textile learners. (KSA #9)
Rational: I am a firm believer that students learn in various ways and that this should be considered deeply by
educators. As teachers we want our students to succeed and so varying learning methods should always be
considered when possible in lesson plans.

Grade: (currently unknown)

Subject Area: (currently unknown)
Time: Allow for 3 lesson plans, these will allow some experimentation. By forth completed and delivered
lesson plan there will be a smooth flow between the different teaching techniques.
Resources Need:
Talking with current teaching consultants about suggestions in techniques that work together. Will ask
teacher associate, university, and other teaching consultants.
Reading: books can be found in the library to assist with ideas.
Continue attending classes leading to practicum.
Log and reflection book of techniques used and how they worked together or did not work.
Indicators of Success:
There will be at least two different teaching techniques that connect with different learning styles in
every lesson plan.
There will be a flow in my lesson taught, specifically between the teaching techniques incorporated.
A balanced logbook of techniques that worked and did not work.
Ongoing Reflection:
Was goal achieved?

Personal Goal: To keep an organized journal of different teaching techniques and habits that I want to
bring into the classroom. This will allow for me to have many ideas and coping strategies at the tip of my
figure when I enter classrooms.
Rational: My courses leading up to my first practical semester have provided many topics, activities, ideas and
attributes have caught my attention of things that I would like to bring with me to my classroom. So, by
continuing observations of my classes and workshops, in addition to talking with my teaching consultants I will
be able to build my journal to become a very useful source for me into PS 1 and also future teaching
opportunities.
Grade: Grade is irrelevant as this goal is for use before and during practicum for myself to be able to refer to
for any grade.
Subject: Will be used in all.
Time: This will be a continous project, however, by October 31st, 2014 I should have a well organized journal
from my course preparing me for my practicum.
Resources:
Reflection on past experience with teachers, professors, and my ed 2500 experience.
My current teaching consultants leading up to my first practical semester.
Indicators of Success:
I have a good begging to an organized journal.

I am able to incorporate some of the techniques learned into my lesson plans.

I am able to bring some of the ideas learned into a classroom with me.

Ongoing Reflection:
I have started a word document with ideas from my Teachers as Performers workshop and other
classes. However, I feel I need to change format to allow myself to be able to make more categories that
are easier to get to.
